Does not seem to have any real possibility of becoming more than a simple definition. Clarityfiend (talk) 05:59, 2 June 2022 (UTC)

:*Comment. Time-domain astronomy is not what comes to mind for the term, not even close. Clarityfiend (talk) 10:33, 3 June 2022 (UTC)

:** Well then where would you redirect astronomical event? An event seems time specific to me. [https://www.cfa.harvard.edu/research/topic/time-domain-astronomy See this web site for examples.] Praemonitus (talk) 00:47, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

:**:*Comment I think that Transient astronomical event is a good redirect to time-domain. But celestial event and astronomical event are too vague to be specifically relevant to time-domain which has been explicitly defined by authoritative sources. I wouldn't keep either of those two redirects. mikeu talk 21:17, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

:**:** Perhaps then it would make sense to redirect 'celestial event' and 'astronomical event' to Phenomenon#Science? Praemonitus (talk) 00:37, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

:*** Observation. Every event is time-specific. And that's not what time-domain means anyway. Clarityfiend (talk) 01:28, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

:*** Comment The :Category:Astronomical events is a good example of how vague these terms are. It includes spectacular visual phenomena like a great comet but also Odd radio circle which isn't even time dependent but they are lumped together with winter solstice (but not equinoxes or the summer solstice.) Then there is :Category:Lists of astronomical events which is defined as being for lists such as solar eclipse events - which it doesn't contain. How can we pick a target for the redirect if we don't have a specific definition from an authoritative source about what that includes? Creating such redirects is arbitrary and contrary to WP:NOR and/or WP:SYNTH. --mikeu talk 02:00, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

  • Delete A generic term that's too vague to even REACH WP:DICDEF. PianoDan (talk) 17:12, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
  • Delete. As stated above, this is just a definition of a generic term. Aldebarium (talk) 23:14, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
  • Delete this isn't even a term that has a simple definition that is not subjective. It is mostly used in the title of a news article to promote an eclipse etc. to the public. There are no authoritative sources that define the specific scope of the term. I couldn't even find a dictionary definition. --mikeu talk 21:04, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
