I have concerns about many of the entries in :Template:Academy Award dresses (only a handful of those actually with articles appear to pass notability) so this is a test case. I did some research and this specific dress does not show enduring individual notability. It is mentioned in passing in one focused specialist book [http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=T96KwL-j_xQC&pg=PA189&dq=alberta+ferretti+uma+thurman&hl=en&sa=X&ei=6unZT5eJGKGc0QWawt3vAg&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q=alberta%20ferretti%20uma%20thurman&f=false 1] but unlike other examples (such as Bjork's swan dress) it does not appear to be given coverage or even significant mentions elsewhere. I would be very interested to see what others think, as :Category:Individual dresses does list a number of garments which show long term notability, something that I don't believe very many of the Oscar gowns do. • Comment Wikipedia:Notability/Noticeboard#Yellow dress of Reese Witherspoon is a very relevant discussion elsewhere. I thought long and hard about raising an AfD for a few weeks. Red carpet fashion in the 2010s (or whatever year/date range) (as I suggested in that discussion) would be more all-encompassing and include other award ceremonies (as well as men's outfits and/or non-dress garments), although the risk is that such an article would also be AfD'd for being too broad in range and potentially too trivial and would need sustained monitoring due to its potential for being overloaded with trivia/bumph. • Delete and merge as above. I agree that the suggested new article seems to be the way to go (I suspect it will soon turn into a competition among individual stylists to see whose product placement is most effective, but that's a bridge to burn later). What interested me about this was that there is not a mention in Alberta Ferretti nor Uma Thurman about this specific dress which, to me, indicates that it's not individually notable. The article here seems to be based on a single article in a single newspaper. Ubelowme (talk) 15:19, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Delete per WP:GNG and 24dot. --BDD (talk) 16:09, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Merge to Alberta Ferretti. Not individually notable, but as high-profile work by the designer certainly warrants inclusion on her page. If someone wants to create an article on red carpet fashion, that's a notable topic, but the easiest solution is to merge to the designer. --Colapeninsula (talk) 13:02, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Comment User:Mabalu/Red carpet fashion in the 2000s This is what a page putting together all the 2000s dresses (with articles) from the :Category:Dresses worn on the red carpet at the Academy Awards template would look like. Apart from Bjork's swan dress and (arguably) Black and white Valentino dress of Julia Roberts I think all the other articles for individual Oscar dresses from 2000-2010 could immediately be deleted if this article went public. It needs more balance, though - I want to add in refs for some more "bad" dresses like Paltrow's GHASTLY (but oh so unforgettable) 2002 McQueen braless faux-pas and also find some more balanced criticisms. It also needs other award ceremonies added in, but I can do that as well. Mabalu (talk) 17:59, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Delete per nom, with kudos. Drmies (talk) 18:07, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Merge to Alberta Ferretti. This article contains very little information and much of it seems to be devoted to repeating the same idea conveyed by its title over and over again. The first sentence is "The crimson Alberta Ferretti dress of Uma Thurman refers to the crimson Alberta Ferretti dress worn by Uma Thurman at the 72nd Academy Awards on March 26, 2000." Then next to that, there is an infobox titled "Crimson Alberta Ferretti dress of Uma Thurman", which informs us that the designer is Alberta Ferretti, the year is 2000, and the type is crimson dress. Such repetition might be acceptable in an article that contained a lot more besides this, but this article has only 51 words of prose. Admittedly, fashion might not be a topic that Wikipedia tends to cover effectively (i.e. we may have a systemic bias against fashion coverage), but articles of this caliber aren't going to help that situation much. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 05:58, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Comment I just want to highlight the article Green Versace dress of Jennifer Lopez - this is a well referenced article on a very widely publicised dress that has received continuing coverage and is provably notable in itself. If Crimson Alberta Ferretti dress of Uma Thurman is how not to do it, this is how to do it. Mabalu (talk) 09:21, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
  • I agree with Mabalu about Green Versace dress of Jennifer Lopez. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 14:42, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
