Basicly this has been unreferanced for two years and just seems to be a content fork about a variant of Team Handball. Some of the material (if it can be sourced) could be merded with Team handball.Slatersteven (talk) 15:41, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

  • Keep Czech handball is a distinct sport. This is a substantial article that if merged into team handball would either distort the emphasis there, or would lose much of the specific information. The article has not been unreferenced. It has a reference to the Czech National Handball association which has been there the whole time. That website has an extensive coverage of the history of Czech handball and its varying relationships to team handball. The lack of inline citation is an editing problem and not a deletion criteria. There are three main antecedents for handball, the Czech form, the Danish form and the German form (Konrad Koch’s Raffballspiel). All of these contributed to the emergence of the women's game Torball, which Carl Schelenz, a teacher of the Berlin Physical Education College, in 1919 converted into a men's game as well. Torball became the ultimate antecedent of modern team handball. See, e.g. {{Cite web|title=History of Handball|publisher=Handball of British Columbia|url=http://www.bchandball.ca/about/history-of-handball}}. Even if Czech handball were not still being played competitively today, it would be important to have the historical article. I do agree that the article needs improvement. --Bejnar (talk) 20:37, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

::Does not establish notability for a start. There are also no inline citations (not as you say a reason for deletion but if no work had been done to rectify this issue it does rather imply that there are no RS for this information).Slatersteven (talk) 10:35, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

  • Keep. Has several pages of coverage [http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=-LYYAAAAIAAJ&q=%22hazena%22&dq=%22hazena%22&source=bl&ots=AYcQYYwjmc&sig=R9iOoxSq2f_NVuy-FG4LDpQqNwo&hl=en&sa=X&ei=NTOBUNDjEcKe0QW3k4CoBQ&redir_esc=y in this encyclopedia], demonstrating that the outside world considers this an appropriate topic for an encyclopedia. ::Cheers, this makes a better case. Can we update the page with better citations establishing notability please?13:53, 20 October 2012 (UTC)Slatersteven (talk)

  • Keep [http://hn.ihned.cz/c1-15961010-narodni-hazena This article] (Hospodářské noviny, published to commemorate 100th anniversary of this sport) discusses history, differences between Czech handball and Team handball etc. Today, Czech handball (literally "national handball" or "národní házená") is not so popular as it was in the 1950s (26 000 organized players in Czechoslovakia), however, it is a sport with rich and interesting history which still attracts the attention of regional media nationwide [https://www.google.cz/search?hl=en&gl=us&tbm=nws&q=%22n%C3%A1rodn%C3%AD+h%C3%A1zen%C3%A1%22&oq=%22n%C3%A1rodn%C3%AD+h%C3%A1zen%C3%A1%22&gs_l=news-cc.12..43j43i400.2041.2041.0.3308.1.1.0.0.0.0.68.68.1.1.0...0.0...1ac.2.GKrBlWnk5gY#q=%22n%C3%A1rodn%C3%AD+h%C3%A1zen%C3%A1%22&hl=en&gl=us&tbm=nws&source=lnt&tbs=ar:1&sa=X&ei=10eBUPfBB-324QTs2YCgCw&ved=0CB0QpwUoBQ&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=91ba3676816e752b&bpcl=35466521&biw=1280&bih=818]. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 12:37, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

:*Nobody is claiming that. Notability has been demonstrated by significant coverage in reliable sources. Phil Bridger (talk) 08:15, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
