Only claim to notability is (former) deputy mayor of a city council and a feud with the mayor. Further, is unreferenced. Its a bad precedent if we start recording such minor news events at all, let alone BLPs. –Moondyne 15:09, 15 August 2010 (UTC) –Moondyne 15:09, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

  • Keep. He was deputy mayor and council Labor leader in a capital city; not only that, but of Brisbane City Council, which covers most of the Perth metropolitan area and has an almost parliamentary-system. It's hardly a case of local notability; he's one of the more significant politicians in Brisbane, and his career is well-documented in the major dailies. Rebecca (talk) 16:52, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

:Much of the Perth metropolitan area, eh? It must be huge, then ... ;) Frickeg (talk) 00:41, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

  • Delete If it was referenced I could possibly lean to keep, given the size and scope of BCC, but there has not been even the slightest attempt at referencing. Perhaps an article could be written about the subject, but this article is not it. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 20:37, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Comment - I want to vote keep, but I cannot do so until references are added. WP:POLITICIAN states that "Major local political figures who have received significant press coverage" are notable and that "members of the main citywide government or council of a major metropolitan city" are "likely to meet this criterion". So there should be sources, but they have not yet been added. Flagging the article for rescue. StAnselm (talk) 22:34, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Delete per lack of reliable sources. Fails WP:POLITICIAN, WP:ARTIST, and WP:GNG. SnottyWong confer 06:15, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Delete If any of this is notable thyen it will have been noticed.Slatersteven (talk) 13:02, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Keep. Perhaps a politically motivated WP:AfD in the middle of an election campaign in Australia. Agree that the article is totally lacking in references but that can be fixed.AWHS (talk) 11:14, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

:well now would be a good time to fix it and undermine the AFD.Slatersteven (talk) 12:17, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

::I have added a reflist tag and the first reference to the local council website.AWHS (talk)

:How exciting. I'm part of a political conspiracy. wtf. –Moondyne 00:50, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

  • Keep. Subject is notable. He has been covered by media and active in Brisbane's political scene for many years. - Shiftchange (talk) 14:13, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Keep, I think there's been a consensus in the past that BCC councillors are notable, given the size and scope of the LGA. Lankiveil (speak to me) 00:00, 20 August 2010 (UTC).
  • Keep Gets mentioned and quoted in the media. • Delete Dream Focus' search is very flawed. many of the results refer to a different David hinchliffe in the UK. shows poor understanding of WP:GNG. definitely delete for failing WP:POLITICIAN. many local politicans get occasional mention in the media, but not enough for an article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Famous1950 (talkcontribs) 17:15, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
