Of borderline notability - successful, but I don't see he meets WP:JOURNALIST or WP:GNG. Boleyn (talk) 18:56, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

- Delete, barely any detail here. agree not signifcant enough within this profession. Teraplane (talk) 22:22, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
- Keep - the article is a stub, yes, but Shanahan is one of the significant figures in the Canberra press gallery and has been in Australian media for a long time. In my view he meets item 1 of the the Journalist policy. Deus et lex (talk) 08:58, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- Keep, per Deus et lex, article needs a lot of work but he is an eminent member of the Canberra press gallery & Australian media landscape. Cavalryman (talk) 14:48, 25 June 2020 (UTC).
- Delete one source does not pass GNG. Being widely published does not make one notable, we need work on a person for people other than themselves. No sources that would in any way show notability have been provided.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:40, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
:You're basing this purely off the state of the article. Shanahan is a noted political journalist in Australia. Deus et lex (talk) 07:44, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
- Comment, some items that may indicate/contribute to Shanahan's notability? - awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters ([https://www.uow.edu.au/alumni/honorary-alumni/honorary-doctorates/dennis-shanahan/ ".. since 1989, Mr Shanahan is an influential voice in the political media landscape. - Keep. He definitely passes WP:JOURNALIST #1, but I can see how someone might miss it - there doesn't appear to be a lot of stuff available online. But Coolabahapple's first link above gives a good idea of his significance - he has been the political editor of Australia's only national newspaper for a long time (the source says since 1989, but then also says he was appointed 10 years after becoming Canberra Bureau Chief also in 1989; [https://www.saxton.com.au/speakers/dennis-shanahan this] also suggests a later date). I'll keep looking for more sources, but this is one of those cases where we can be 100% certain they exist. Frickeg (talk) 10:03, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
- Keep per Frickeg. --Mdaniels5757 (talk) 19:01, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
