Deprodded without rationale or improvement. Is simply a grandson's tribute to his grandfather. Fails as per WP:NOTMEMORIAL. Meets neither WP:GNG or WP:NSOLDIER. Onel5969 TT me 02:31, 12 November 2019 (UTC)

Nothing else substantial comes up. The incident, while tragic, is not enough to cross the threshold for an article on Karasti as he's only notable for one event and that event is not itself particularly encyclopedia-worthy. Wikipedia is also not a memorial service, so I thank Mr. Karasti for his service but note that he is not a notable subject for Wikipedia's purposes. – John M Wolfson (talkcontribs) 03:35, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
  • Comment: The "References" section contains [https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/GPO-CRECB-1984-pt1/pdf/GPO-CRECB-1984-pt1-7-3.pdf this link], which goes to the "Extension of Remarks" section of the Congressional Record for January 31, 1984. The relevance is not immediately apparent, but a search for his name takes one to the remarks of Congressman James Oberstar at page 1150. Oberstar reports on his contacts with Mr. Karasti and his recent death, and adds to the record a bylined article from the Ely Echo (a local newspaper) detailing his postwar experiences in the atomic tests and radiation illness. To the same effect is the article from the Mesabi Daily News appearing on our page. So there is some mention of him, but likely not enough to meet our notability standards. We do not have an article on the National Association of Atomic Veterans and our article on Atomic veteran is somewhat basic. Kablammo (talk) 12:09, 12 November 2019 (UTC)

::Karasti is also mentioned and quoted [https://books.google.com/books?id=_PQkDAAAQBAJ&pg=PP59&lpg=PP59&dq=%22Frank+F.+Karasti%22&source=bl&ots=f2xvD9Apm3&sig=ACfU3U2ain2klUg4suzbTWQ-LX-0N9h-Nw&hl=en&ppis=_e&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjOheSNkuXlAhVGY6wKHcZDDcwQ6AEwA3oECAkQAQ#v=onepage&q=%22Frank%20F.%20Karasti%22&f=false' here] in Cavie umane: L'America e l'enrgia nucleare: cronaca di un disastro annunciato (apparently a translation of an English work); in twicerisensun.com [http://twicerisensun.com/operation-crossroads/ here]; and in Killing our own: The Disaster of America's Experience with Atomic Radiation [https://ratical.org/radiation/KillingOurOwn/KOO2.html here]. Given those, I am striking my opinion above. But if this article is to be kept, it must be based on such third-party sources, without copying. Kablammo (talk) 17:14, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
