  • Delete. Seems to be a case of WP:NOTAMEMORIAL and failing WP:NMUSIC as written. Ping me if more sources are found. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:00, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Keep. A quick Google search establishes that there are additional sources that make a stronger case for Erb's influence as choral conductor (founding director of the Richmond Symphony Chorus), arranger (Shenandoah and others -- the arrangement itself is notable in collegiate music), and musicologist (insights on Lasso and his peers) than made in this article. I strongly suggest giving a few days to establish and strengthen the article. Also, the article has existed for many years prior to Erb's death, so I would suggest that WP:NOTAMEMORIAL is specious here. The article wasn't created as a memorial, and threatening an established, albeit stubbed, article with deletion immediately after the subject's death seems unnecessarily churlish. -16:22, 17 November 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tjarrett (talkcontribs)
  • Delete does not appear to pass our music guidelines. I know of no policy that prevents discussing an article after the subject's death or other life events. Indeed, if anything that's when reliable sources are most likely to appear. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 02:54, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

  • Keep. Mr Erb is a musicologist worthy of coverage on Wikipedia. I do not know what is gained by deleting his page. The most significant work of his life appears to be his compilation and publication of many of the motets of Orlando di Lasso. You can see one of his volumes of motets on Google Books: http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=zsuFLfxg_bwC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false. Given that Wikipedia has pages on individual Katy Perry concert tours, Wikipedia can also, surely, have pages on musicologists who have contributed to the historical record. • Keep – Erb's choral arrangements are well known and frequently performed. His writings on Renaissance music, especially on Lasso (Garland, 1990), are widely cited. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 13:01, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
  • Keep plenty sources to establish notability, and a significant scholar and choral conductor. --Stfg (talk) 16:12, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

  • Thank you, I changed my vote in light of claims of being widely cited, which makes him pass WP:PROF. A ping to User:Syek88, however: WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS is not a valid arguents; those Katy Perry concert tours pages should probably be nominated for deletion; we have way too much of the concert tours spam. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:06, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

*Keep I added an in-depth source [http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G2-3491803545.html] via HighBeam with lots of biographical information that could be used to extent the article.--I am One of Many (talk) 06:03, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

  • I struct my keep. The reference I cited was to Donald Erb (the James in the name led me to a misidentification). --I am One of Many (talk) 06:47, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
