WP:BLP of a diplomat and politician, not properly referenced as passing inclusion criteria for diplomats or politicians. The attempted notability claim here is that he was nominated for a subcabinet position but was never confirmed into the role by the senate, which is not "inherently" notable in and of itself -- the notability bar at WP:NPOL is holding a notable office, not just being nominated for one -- but the article says absolutely nothing else about his career up to that point to suggest any other basis for preexisting notability, and it's referenced 2/3 to primary sources that are not support for notability at all. And while there is one reliable source to a piece of media coverage, one of those isn't enough all by itself. Bearcat (talk) 14:02, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

  • Delete: Rather brief political career [https://history.state.gov/departmenthistory/people/covey-james-p], then back into obscurity. I don't see enough sourcing to use for an article. Even the position held was a low-level one, for a brief period of time. Oaktree b (talk) 15:23, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
  • Delete: Not notable. His diplomatic nomination never saw fruition, and no other information about him is available. — Maile (talk) 16:29, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
  • Keep and convert to stub. If we can do it for Daniel Morcombe we can do it for this. Kellpb93ke (talk) 16:52, 9 September 2024 (UTC) Kellpb93ke (talkcontribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.

  • Delete per Oaktree b. Best, GPL93 (talk) 19:49, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
  • Delete per nom. He could’ve been a contender, but wasn’t. Now, if there were significant coverage in non-biased sources that showed his career either before or after his failed nomination, then it would be a different matter. Saying we did it for one guy but not another isn’t a good reason to keep. Bearian (talk) 01:53, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
