Non-notable game show tournament. Game shows have special tournaments, and nothing about this sets it apart from others. Article fails WP:GNG since there is no significant coverage, the only source points to a Jeopardy! fansite, and [http://www.google.com/search?q=jeopardy%20international%20tournament&hl=en&prmd=ivns&um=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1280&bih=849&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=iw Google search] returns only links to videos or fan pages, no links that would meet inclusion criteria or meet criteria proving notability. Delete per nom. This article lacks sourced content that could be added in a possible merger with List of Jeopardy! tournaments and events. RJaguar3 | u | t 15:37, 29 May 2011 (UTC)Change to merge to allow the references to be merged into List of Jeopardy! tournaments and events. RJaguar3 | u | t 19:44, 31 May 2011 (UTC)- Delete per Sottolacqua's reasoning. Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 16:02, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- Keep. Coverage in multiple independent reliable sources that are independent of the subject. (I just added refs to two books.) Robert K S (talk) 16:31, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- Delete The "independent sources" were written by former contestants and are therefore not independent. There isn't enough standalone content here to warrant a separate article. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 18:17, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- Wrong and wrong--the independent sources I added were neither added by by former contestants (Richmond was never on Jeopardy!, and Harris was never in an International Tournment), nor even would they be non-independent if they were contestants. The "independent sources" rule is intended to prevent persons from cheating their way into notability by writing about themselves, and this is not what is going on here. Robert K S (talk) 20:34, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- I'm afraid the poster of this response must have a serious misconception of what constitutes an independent source. As I understand, both Richmond's and Harris's books were published by third-party publishing houses, which are indeed independent, as opposed to personal websites, blogs, or vanity presses. To assume the previous poster's logic were true would imply that independence means that no expertise is allowed, which is clearly not intended by the policies. - These sources are independent, but they aren't sources that provide criteria that meets WP:GNG. This is Jeopardy!: Celebrating America's Favorite Quiz Show simply states that a tournament took place in Sweden and the tournament winner's name. The other source, Prisoner of Trebekistan: A Decade in Jeopardy!, mentions international versions airing in specific countries and that two international tournaments were held, the winners of those two tournaments and descriptions of their appearance/personality. These sources are not providing significant coverage of the topic; these mentions are trivial at best. Sottolacqua (talk) 18:45, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

- Merge to List of Jeopardy! tournaments and events. As noted above, sources seem independent and reliable but only moderately past "in passing". Hobit (talk) 20:07, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

- Merge. It's well-referenced and it would fit good in the tournaments and events page. SwisterTwister (talk) 06:23, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- Comment—This article is not well-referenced. The two sources mention trivial facts that barely pertain to the "meat" of the article, and neither offer significant coverage of the article topic. Sottolacqua (talk) 11:35, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- Comment—If the issue is really sourcing (and what is the "meat" of the article that does not find verification in at least one external source?) that can be fixed with a little legwork... the tournaments discussed would have been reported on in newspapers and trades at the time of the airing. Someone would just need to go through some archives to find the refs. If that's the only argument for deletion, it's remediable, if not readily. In any case the argument doesn't work to oppose a merge, only to promote a deletion of this particular article. Robert K S (talk) 14:25, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- Comment—the issue is not sourcing. The issue is that this article lacks criteria that meets WP:GNG, as stated in the deletion nomination above. My comment to SwisterTwister's vote clarifies that user's comment regarding the level and quality of sources for this article. It does not negate that the original nomination for deletion was based upon the lack of notability and lack of coverage in significant reliable sources. Sottolacqua (talk) 15:40, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- But your comment was not in response to a keep vote, it was in response to a merge vote. Your reasoning doesn't apply to a merge vote. Robert K S (talk) 22:56, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- Merge and redirect to List of Jeopardy! tournaments and events, the content fits the List well (and in fact it's already part-way merged), and it doesn't meet WP:GNG well enough to warrant a standalone article. PKT(alk) 21:28, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
