Fails WP:SOLDIER and WP:GNG. Ensign posthumously awarded one Navy Cross is not notable. Unclear what role he personally played in the Battle of Midway, just being a member of VB-3 which sunk the Japanese aircraft carrier Sōryū doesn't establish notability and he disappeared after the attack. His role as namesake of the USS John C. Butler is covered on that page Mztourist (talk) 03:53, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
