The result was delete. I find the category argument particularly convincing. ~ Amory (utc) 21:28, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

Unsourced and this is better handled by a category as the songs are not being discussed. Walter Görlitz (talk) 19:44, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

  • Keep. A category may end up listing thousands of songs where there is no distinction of what is relevant and what is just an ordinary track that will go away. So a list of thousands of songs is no list at all. This present list may be subjective, but it lists only the select ones that have passed the test of time and enjoy greater popularity across the board and have achieved long-term fame and use. It can always be improved, rather than deleted. werldwayd (talk) 20:45, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
  • There is no distinction of what is relevant and an ordinary track here either. At least with a category, we can be sure that any song that meets notability guidelines has a fighting chance of being listed in it as most start with the content of a previous article. There's no indication that any of the entries here are more important than others. No indication that they were in the CCLI top 10 (or 25 or 50 or 100, depending on the time or country). No indication that they were mentioned in Worship Musician magazine as a top song of the year, or any other publication for that matter. So when the criteria for inclusion is that it's just a contemporary worship song, what sort of criteria was being used to determine that a song had "greater popularity and more stable long-term fame" than other songs? That's what needs to be referenced. For instance, "10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)" and "Mighty to Save" were only popular for about two years each. There's no indication that "El Shaddai" is even a worship song while "We Believe" was never a popular worship song as far as I can tell. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:43, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

  • The article itself seems to point out a major issue here - it mentions how there are thousands (potentially tens of thousands) of contemporary worship songs. It currently lists like 10. There’s a big WP:INDISCRIMINATE issue here. The fact that it’s unsourced is also an issue, though that part is probably more related to it being poorly written than the sources not existing. My main issue is the massive scope. Sergecross73 msg me 21:04, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
  • Delete. WP:NOTINDISCRIMINATE, no sources and no mention of being 'contemporary' in most of the articles. Ajf773 (talk) 21:57, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
  • Delete - In addition to my comment on WP:INDISCRIMINATE, I just dug through the page history to see that [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_contemporary_worship_songs&oldid=157799470 the page was initially created as a 4 song unsourced list in 2007]. To put that in perspective, out of a subject with potentially thousands of items to list, over the course of a decade, it’s has grown from 4 items to 10 items, and from zero sources to zero sources. It doesn’t seem improvement is coming. Sergecross73 msg me 22:15, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
  • Delete per the WP:INDISCRIMINATE standard, and I agree with the nominator that a category is a better way to handle this matter for anyone interested in perusing a collection of articles on such songs. If the category gets too big, sub-categories can be added. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 18:14, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
