  • Delete Wikipedia is WP:NOT a yellow pages or directory. Aaronw (talk) 22:27, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment' All of the content has been moved to List of diplomatic missions in Vietnam. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aaronw (talkcontribs) 21:51, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep, but remove the addresses and telephone numbers. Wikipedia is not a telephone directory, but there is encyclopedic value in identifying which countries have diplomatic representation in a particular country or city. (See :Category:Lists of diplomatic missions by receiving country for an indication of the value that Wikipedians have placed on these lists.) --Orlady (talk) 02:14, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Merge with List of diplomatic missions in Ho Chi Minh City into List of diplomatic missions in Vietnam, which I will quickly get done up, with references of course. --Россавиа Диалог 02:45, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
  • I have now created List of diplomatic missions in Vietnam which combines Hanoi, HCMC and Danang missions. List has been based upon another I have done, Diplomatic missions in Russia; whilst there are redlinks on the Vietnam article, these are necessary for article development; the Russia list started as all red-links, now most is developed. --Россавиа Диалог 07:10, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Merge per Russavia's proposal. The country-level list seems to me to be a more natural choice than the city-level. City governments do not typically have formal diplomatic relations with other countries. DickClarkMises (talk) 03:44, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment Thanks Aaronw for acknowledging on my talk page that the removal of directory information could make it a valuable article. Yes it has a lot of redlinks, but hopefully WP:FOR and Wikipedia:WikiProject Vietnam will be up to the challenge of in time getting rid of those redlinks. Just a quick comment in regards to country-level to city-level lists. I am the editor who is largely responsible for the formatting and upkeep of Diplomatic missions in Russia. I had a thought the other day in that Diplomatic missions in Saint Petersburg would make for a great article - SPB once being the capital of Imperial Russia, and a heap of countries having embassies there and some of these countries no longer exist (Bavaria, Neopolitan Kingdom, etc); SPB has a long rich history in terms of diplomatic relations and missions, and a split could be done quite easily so as to include not only the consulate-generals located in the city today, but details on the embassies from pre-1917 - many of these were extraordinary examples of architecture, and many happenings at the missions adds the diplomatic corps flavour to it. Each article needs to be judged upon its own merits and the reasoning behind it. A Hanoi and HCMC article may be possible in future; if it can be demonstrated that they warrant it; but I think editors of that article now need to concentrate on using the groundwork which I have now laid to further develop this area of foreign relations. --Russavia Dialogue Stalk me 21:56, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
