Is this a joke?

Unencyclopedic list of characters that happen to share an element of their name. We don't have a list of every fictional "Bill", nor should we. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:04, 20 July 2021 (UTC)

• Keep. This page was created to avoid cluttering the disambiguation page Taylor (with a list of fictional characters with surname Taylor), and Taylor (given name). The list of fictional characters with surname Taylor shouldn't reallu go at List of people with surname Taylor because fictional characters aren't people. If this list is deleted, those lists should be restored to those pages. This, in my view, would not be an improvement. We do actually have very many "unencyclopedic" lists of fictional characters that happen to share an element of their name, but they're usually found embedded in disambiguation pages and in anthroponymy articles. See, for example: List of people with surname Smith#Fictional Smiths, List of people with surname Jones#Fictional characters, Tom#Characters; Dick (nickname)#Fictional characters; and Harry (given name)#Fictional characters. • Merge to Taylor (surname) and Taylor (given name), respectively. This is a list that consists to a significant part of existing articles. Therefore it is useful for navigational purposes and should not be deleted. I would be fine with keep based on that, but currently I see no need that this has to be separate from Taylor (surname)/Taylor (given name). I think the relevance of those pages is not in doubt. If a fictional Taylors sections within Taylor (surname)/Taylor (given name) should become to large or dominant, then it would make sense to split them out and the list we currently have would be justified based on WP:SPLIT.
