MtG expansion. Pretty much all sources fail the requirement for independence (they are from the company itself). Other than that there are mentions in passing/press release reprints and like, and my BEFORE fails to find anything better. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:28, 31 May 2025 (UTC)

- keep? Not my area of expertise, but wouldn't things like [https://www.cbr.com/mtg-lorwyn-return-trivia-lore/], [https://screenrant.com/dnd-magic-gathering-lorwyn-shadowmoor-crossover-setting-explainer/] solid enough sources? There seem to be a dozen or so places covering the setting due to the D&D tie in. There are also 3rd party books which cover all the sets and appear to have non-trivial coverage of this one (e.g. [https://www.google.com/books/edition/Magic_The_Gathering_Cards/ZC1wDwAAQBAJ?hl=en&gbpv=0]). I feel like an independent and fairly in depth article can be written using sources that meet WP:N. What am I missing? Hobit (talk) 17:51, 31 May 2025 (UTC)

Redirect to List of Magic: The Gathering sets#Expansion setsWeak keep. Comic Book Resources and ScreenRant are Valnet-owned and can't used to demonstrate notability per WP:VALNET. [https://www.google.fi/books/edition/Magic_The_Gathering_Cards/ZC1wDwAAQBAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=%22Lorwyn%22&pg=PT807&printsec=frontcover The collector's guide] is not "independent of the subject" per WP:GNG. The author is "the general manager of StarCityGames.com, the world's largest Magic retailer." He is selling Lorwyn cards: [https://starcitygames.com/search/?search_query=lorwyn&sort=score]. --Mika1h (talk) 08:58, 1 June 2025 (UTC)- {{ping|Mika1h}} Thanks. I should be familiar with WP:VALNET by now. I notice that they aren't ruled out as sources, just not ideal... So how about [https://www.polygon.com/tabletop-games/528533/mtg-dnd-crossover-lorwyn-shadowmoor-announcement-release-date-price polygon] and [https://www.belloflostsouls.net/2025/02/new-dd-mtg-crossover-announced-lorwyn-shadowmoor-is-coming-soon.html Bell of Lost Souls]? There is also a very short bit from [https://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/relationships/d-d-s-magic-the-gathering-crossovver-is-lorwyn-shadowmoor/ar-AA1zAtUw?apiversion=v2&noservercache=1&domshim=1&renderwebcomponents=1&wcseo=1&batchservertelemetry=1&noservertelemetry=1 MSN] by [https://muckrack.com/scott-baird-2 Scott Baird] (who looks like a real journalist, not sure?). - MSN is a reposting from DualShockers, just declared unreliable, see here. I'm not familiar with Bell of Lost Souls but it doesn't look great. It's a self-published source: [https://www.belloflostsouls.net/about-us]. The author hasn't wrote for anybody else: [https://muckrack.com/jr-zambrano], the founder of the site doesn't have any credentials: [https://www.belloflostsouls.net/author/larry-velagmail-com], [https://muckrack.com/lauro-vela]. Polygon is a reliable source (article is just before they were sold to Valnet) but I don't think that announcement is significant coverage: "No further details, or even a release window, were shared in the official news release". And I would say it's not even "independent of the subject". The author first cites the press release and then Magic's own website, then the last half is not even talking about Lorwyn. --Mika1h (talk) 21:12, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
- BoLS has historically been considered a reliable source for RPG articles. I didn't realize Polygon got sold. I started reading that around 1980 when it was the RPGA newsletter (I think it traces that history?). There are lots of other Google News and book hits for this. Since it's a made up word, it's really easy to search for. Hobit (talk) 22:17, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, I found coverage by Wargamer: [https://www.wargamer.com/magic-the-gathering/mtg-card-notorious-throng], [https://www.wargamer.com/magic-the-gathering/gilt-leaf-archdruid-price-spike], [https://www.wargamer.com/dnd/lorwyn-guide] (better article on the same announcement as Polygon), and this German-language book, : [https://www.google.fi/books/edition/Vom_Avatar_bis_zur_Zauberei/MfJGqeWfwssC?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=%22Lorwyn%22&pg=PA145&printsec=frontcover]. Only two sources but I guess it's enough... --Mika1h (talk) 23:49, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
