The result was speedy keep. Withdrawing nomination. Consensus is that the article meets WP:PROF, a notability guideline I did not know existed. If I had, I would not have made this nomination. (non-admin closure) Alpha Quadrant ^talk 16:46, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Subject appears to be a non-notable person. The subject appears to lack significant coverage in reliable third party sources. He appears to have won the SIGMOD Edgar F. Codd Innovations Award and mentioned on the award's website. Also, he has been quoted by several reliable sources ([http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C03E7DA123FF930A35751C0A9619C8B63&pagewanted=2 example]), but they only briefly mention him. I believe he may fail to meet the notability guidelines for biographies. However, he is a major Microsoft employee, and there may be offline coverage. Alpha Quadrant ^talk 18:15, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Speedy keep. "Appears to have won"? Anyway, passes WP:PROF on several counts. Elected member of the National Academy of Engineering - that alone is sufficient to satisfy WP:PROF#C3, elected fellow of ACM, won a prestigious award, Editor-in-Chief of a major journal, etc. Nsk92 (talk) 02:41, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
Incidentally, I looked up the Journal Citation Reports, and the VLDB journal, where Bernstein is a co-Editor-in-Chief, is listed there as ranked no. 1, by the impact factor, in two categories, COMPUTER SCIENCE, HARDWARE & ARCHITECTURE, and COMPUTER SCIENCE, INFORMATION SYSTEMS.
