Blatant advertising. Fails notability Dbratland (talk) 20:25, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

If Strokers Dallas isn't 'notable', perhaps Rick Fairless is, since he's well known in custom choppers due to his TV and radio appearances. I'll grant you that the long blerb someone added to the article from the menu doesn't conform to Wikipedia practice. If we remove the menu blerb leaving the rest of the article, which won't be much more than a stub, be more palatable? n2xjk (talk) 02:22, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

:Notability is not inherited. If you wanted to write a page on Rick Fairless, I think you could justify it. He is the subject of parts of [http://books.google.com/books?id=FkY99XXNQ7wC&pg=PA94&dq=Rick+Fairless some] [http://books.google.com/books?id=Pvk52rkfqSsC&pg=PA135&dq=Rick+Fairless books] and of some articles. But this restaurant still fails notability to have a page of its own. It's perfectly fine to delete Strokers Dallas now, and then some day if Rick Fairless were created, a redirect from Strokers Dallas to Rick Fairless could be created to go with it.--Dbratland (talk) 01:24, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Weak delete. A search didn't find any deep articles about Strokers Dallas that weren't PR. tedder (talk) 00:33, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Speedy Delete as this article it completely unsourced, and comprises of original research in which various personal opinions about the proprietor and his family are made in contravention of WP:BLP. --Gavin Collins (talk|contribs) 09:42, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

:Above, Dbratland talks about 'this restaurant' but Stokers Dallas is three (or more?) businesses in one, the Chopper dealership, the restaurant/bar and tattoo shop. I think Strokers Dallas has sufficient notability to remain an article. I'll remove the menu blerb, which I expect triggered the deletion request. n2xjk (talk) 15:42, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

:Also note the number of links to Strokers Dallas from other motorcycle related pages, albeit many of those are via the Template:USA motorcycle manufacturers. n2xjk (talk) 12:58, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

::The point here is the lack of secondary sources on the subject of Stokers Dallas (not on the subject of Rick Fairless or his radio show or on any other thing; on Stokers Dallas). The relevant criteria are on the page Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) "Evidence of attention by international or national, or at least regional, media is a strong indication of notability. On the other hand, attention solely from local media, or media of limited interest and circulation, is not an indication of notability". This other stuff is beside the point.--Dbratland (talk) 15:32, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

:::I see from your user page you are into motorcycles, but can you see why I think Strokers Dallas is unique even among chopper dealerships? I've been there, and I live in New York and don't own a motorcycle of any sort. Notice that in this reference it is described as a "Landmark/Tourist Attraction": [http://events.nbcdfw.com/dallas-tx/venues/show/1049621-strokers-dallas]. Maybe in this case its a little harder to separate the person from the business, because any coverage of Rick Fairless includes mention of Strokers Dallas, and any coverage of Strokers Dallas mentions Rick Fairless. In any case, Rick Fairless and Strokers Dallas having been covered on Discovery Channel and Speed Network, which are on most US cable and dish networks, would seem to handle the national media requirement of 'notability.' n2xjk (talk) 18:39, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
