Contested prod. Whilst 3rd party sources are always welcome, the 3 added sources are all 1 line mentions [https://webthethao.vn/sea-games/sea-games-29-ngay-228-ngay-vang-cua-the-thao-viet-nam-42215.htm], [https://webthethao.vn/sea-games/sea-games-29-ngay-228-ngay-vang-cua-the-thao-viet-nam-42215.htm], [https://bnews.vn/sea-games-29-tai-nang-le-tu-chinh-xuat-sac-gianh-hcv-100m-nu/54738.html] and not SIGCOV. We need indepth coverage to meet WP:SPORTSCRIT and WP:NOLY. LibStar (talk) 22:33, 16 March 2025 (UTC)

- Keep, I found several sources describing the subject as a 'big name' and 'famous' in Vietnam in the early 1990s. I think this boosts the case for WP:NEXIST, understanding that athletics in Vietnam was popular at that time and we can expect that Vietnamese newspapers would have covered Van in more depth.
: There was a well-known digitization gap in the 1990s during the subject's era, before most newspapers published online versions but after most archives end. I don't think it's impossible to find more sourcing, but having an editor in Vietnam who might be more familiar with the local news scene to assist would be a start. --Habst (talk) 03:22, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
- Keep notable athlete for his country. 193.212.89.122 (talk) 10:07, 17 March 2025 (UTC)

- Keep, per Habst. We still have articles today describing how he was a "famous" athlete and one of the "big names" in Vietnamese athletics, and he competed in the offline era. It is virtually certain that he was covered extensively in the past (remember: no old Vietnamese newspapers are accessible to us) when the modern media still remembers him as a legendary athlete. - Keep per Habst. These sources seem to indicate more than just the fact that he existed, but that he had an impact on Vietnamese athletics. Hopefully one day we could access some of those offline papers. Jordano53 16:58, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
