Thereis no evidence that WP:PROF is met. Merely being a professor does not assert notability. The article states that he is a "distinguished professor" which would meet criterion 5, but it appears that the term in the article is used in a non-formal sense. There is far more of a biography at [http://www.wtec.org/loyola/erato/aa_bios.htm] which does not use the term and does not appear to provide anything which does satisfy WP:PROF. - Keep. The [http://bioe.umd.edu/facstaff/bentley.html faculty page] that appears as an external link explicitly calls him the "Robert E. Fischell Distinguished Professor". That alone is sufficient to prove notability. The biography at http://www.wtec.org/loyola/erato/aa_bios.htm is from a study published in 1996, http://www.wtec.org/loyola/erato/abstract.htm which explains why it is not current. -- Eastmain (talk) 20:27, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
: Good catch; I shall withdraw the (incomplete) nomination. I42 (talk) 20:39, 23 October 2009 (UTC

- Keep. I agree with Eastmain. The university webpage calls him "Robert E. Fischell Distinguished Professor". Notice also that he is a fellow of several societies. Oops, I was too late. Already withdrawn. CronopioFlotante (talk) 20:41, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
- Snow Keep. Named professorship and chair of bioengineering dept at an important institution (U. Maryland) and oodles of research publications in mainstream journals – This readily-found info is ample evidence that WP:PROF is indeed met.
