The article uses but one reference, no inline citations. A google search turns up no evidence of the existence of the legend described in the article. Almost 30 years of living in Magdeburg, I have never encountered the story or anything similar. Madcynic (talk) 23:25, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

  • Delete I rooted around considerably on Google. It's not mentioned in Grimm's Sagen, nor in Wilhelm Hertz' Der Werwolf: Beitrag zur Sagengeschichte, nor in Wilhelm Leinung and Rudolf Stumvoll's [http://books.google.com/books?id=7jYWAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA238&dq=Magdeburg+Grimm+Deutsche+Sagen&hl=en&ei=CcBmTcfgDcTIrQfNgMnaCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CD8Q6AEwBA#v=onepage&q&f=false Aus Magdeburgs Sage und Geschichte]. It does appear at length in Barb Karg's [http://books.google.com/books?id=l8uv3tZpAVoC&pg=PA24&dq=Magdeburg+Werewolf&hl=en&ei=88JmTYjoNM3trQe9m73aCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CCoQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=Magdeburg%20Werewolf&f=false The Girl’s Guide to Werewolves] and is mentioned in Konstantinos' [http://books.google.com/books?id=F_n6Hx-LVlwC&pg=PA40&dq=Breber+wolf&hl=en&ei=ocZmTYrgFY6HrAfWmszaCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CCwQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=Breber%20wolf&f=false Werewolves: The Occult Truth], but neither of these is an RS and both postdate the Wikipedia article (2009, 2010). It is however "A Lycanthropous Brook" in Elliott O'Donnell's [http://books.google.com/books?id=7u3qpTl7BiwC&pg=PA172&dq=Breber+wolf&hl=en&ei=ocZmTYrgFY6HrAfWmszaCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=6&ved=0CEIQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=Count%20von%20Breber%2C%20chief%20of%20the%20police%20of%20Magdeburg&f=false Werwolves] (2007 reissue of 1912 book, link goes to first page of story), where the hero is Count van Beber and his wife's name is Hilda. Those are also the versions of the names in Konstantinos, so I think that was his source. O'Donnell also has the fatal drink occur in the Harz Mountains, so there may be Harz folklore behind the story; but the total absence in folklore books makes me think fiction and since it isn't famous as fiction, but has merely apparently reached fakelore status, it doesn't meet the notability standards.--Yngvadottir (talk) 21:24, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
