• Oppose There is the :Category:Belgian people (before 1830). Seems as though it is valid to use the adjective Belgian before Belgium was a state. After all, the word Belgian did not appear in a vacuum.--Cukrakalnis (talk) 14:37, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

::Ah, Marcocapelle, and you answered me a day before I came to announce that the category has been emptied. I am typically strongly against doing this before a CFD discussion closure (and especially when an editor nominates categories at CFD and at the same time empties them! • Merge and redirect to :Category:Scientists of the Austrian Netherlands which covers the same. Belgium did not exist. May be worthwhile to think of the consistency of :Category:Scientists of the Habsburg Netherlands.--Mvqr (talk) 10:54, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
