Relisting comment: Merge target?
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Qwerfjkltalk 18:06, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- Merge all three to :Category:Parliament of Kazakhstan. We do not need "convocations" in the category title if it is not in the article titles. Marcocapelle (talk) 22:48, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- Merge anyway, preferably to :Category:Convocations of the Mäjilis. {{Cl|Legislatures by legislative term of office}} is a standard and useful way to sort articles about successive legislative terms of the same parliament. These articles should remain in that category. However intermediate category {{Cl|Convocations of the Parliament of Kazakhstan}} is useless. Context: in most bicameral systems, legislative terms are numbered with the renewals of the lower house (in Kazakhstan, the Mäjilis), as elections to the upper house do not coincide (as is the case in Kazakhstan). Child {{Cl|7th Mäjilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan}} (1P) is equally useless. I therefore suggest to add:
- Propose merging {{Cl|Convocations of the Parliament of Kazakhstan}} to {{Cl|Legislatures by legislative term of office}} and {{Cl|Parliament of Kazakhstan}} (added 29 January)
- Propose merging {{Cl|7th Mäjilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan}} to {{Cl|Convocations of the Mäjilis}} (added 29 January)

- Merge all three to :Category:Parliament of Kazakhstan per Marocapelle. –Aidan721 (talk) 15:50, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
- : {{Re|Aidan721|Marcocapelle}} what would be your rationale for removing these 8 articles from {{Cl|Legislatures by legislative term of office}}? Would an alternative title better work for you, e.g. {{Cl|Terms of the Parliament of Kazakhstan}} / {{Cl|Terms of the Mäjilis}}? Place Clichy (talk) 19:31, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
- :* I notice that the category tree has been improved quite a bit since we started this discussion. Under the new circumstances, I am all for merging to :Category:Convocations of the Parliament of Kazakhstan. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:57, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

Relisting comment: :Category:Convocations of the Mäjilis was not tagged, so I am relisting this (for the third time...). As it currently stands, if there is no further participation, consensus seems to be in favor of merging :Category:7th Mäjilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, :Category:Convocations of the Mäjilis, and :Category:Convocations of the Mazhilis to :Category:Convocations of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.

:* Propose merging :Category:2115 films to :Category:2110s in film
:Nominator's rationale: This will probably have only one entry for around 80 years. The sole member is already in :Category:Upcoming films. * Pppery * it has begun... 21:26, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
- Merge per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 22:01, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
- Strong Keep, have been watching this for years. Yes, one entry, but more importantly, this is a legitimate category for "films released". Not broken, not irregular, but a category which fits in with all the other yearly categories. Several years in the 1870s and 1880s contain one film apiece, as does 1893. Are we going to get rid of those too? No, because keeping films separated by years fulfills the mission of the films-per-year category concept. Randy Kryn (talk) 23:41, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
- :Merge per nom. Mason (talk) 02:21, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
- Another point, taking the Wikipedia logo into consideration, its concept of an open-ended ongoing continued collaboration communicates outright that the encyclopedia will never be completed (the symbolism purposely portrayed as the missing piece of the open globe). Other single-year film categories exist (some categories 1874 to 1887, and 1893, include only one film per year). Are the "merge" people saying that Wikipedia won't be around in 2115? Either it will be or it won't be, but, per the "Wikipedia will never be completed" part of its vision and mission, we have to assume, in good faith, that it will, and that we are building an encyclopedia for the readers of 2115. From that perspective this is an easy keep. Randy Kryn (talk) 04:00, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
:* Not saying that Wikipedia won't be around in 2115. But it will only be helpful for easy navigation between films articles when we create the category a year in advance, like currently :Category:2025 films. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:25, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
- Merge Per nom, it's unlikely to get any larger than one film for... well, as long as it will matter for most people. Merging doesn't imply there will be no future, just that a category is unnecessary. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 00:32, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
- Please note Wikipedia:Potential, not just current state which is relevant to the nom's and "merge" reasoning. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 16:13, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

:Nominator's rationale: The question of the usefulness of this category tree was first brought up at this discussion. I'm not sure that cultural infrastructure is a useful category for the establishments/completed in tree. There is no :Category:Cultural infrastucture or Cultural infrastructure. –Aidan721 (talk) 18:06, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
- Merge all to the buildings and structures category of the same year. While "cultural infrastructure" is an existing term, it is not a defining characteristic of museums, theathres etc. Marcocapelle (talk) 18:36, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
- Merge all to the buildings and structures category of the same year. I expected to iVote "keep" since I use these a lot but, without a Cultural infrastructure main article, there's no clear scope and it becomes WP:SUBJECTIVECAT. - RevelationDirect (talk) 17:50, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
- :@Marcocapelle, @RevelationDirect, I assume the same goes for the decades and century categories, and :Category:Cultural infrastructure by year of completion, :Category:Cultural infrastructure by decade of completion, and :Category:Cultural infrastructure by century of completion. Qwerfjkltalk 17:07, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
- ::{{ping|Qwerfjkl}} Yes, the decades and century should follow suit as Marcocapelle and RevelationDirect alternatively suggested. –Aidan721 (talk) 19:14, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
- :::Agreed. RevelationDirect (talk) 19:47, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

:Nominator's rationale: This group is isolated after C16 and C18 museum disestablishments were deleted per Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2024 January 30#Category:Art museums and galleries disestablished in 1552. :Nominator's rationale: Upmerge. There's no need to difussion by the intersection of EU and type of organization. (I've only selected one merge target because this is the only category in Organizations based in EU, which doesn't help navigation) Mason (talk) 03:20, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
- Merge per nom. There is no :Category:Organisations based in EU either. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:02, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
:* Leave as is
:Rationale of this category is that not many FLOSS projects have registered NGO in EU, but this is to be changing as EU has started actively supporting development of software that is alternative to big corporate US developers as an attempt in creating less dependence and more sustainable autonomy and especially so in FLOSS. There is more funding then before and policies are adapting to favor such tech. --Zblace (talk) 06:24, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
