Wikipedia:GLAM/ICE

A public 'editathon' event was held at the Institution of Civil Engineers headquarters in London on 19 July 2013.

The intention was to improve articles on engineering and engineers, using the ICE's extensive and historic archives. Training and support for people new to editing Wikipedia and its sister projects was available, using the venue's Wi-Fi. Refreshments and lunch were provided.

My interest is in the Municipal engineering page. - Four years ago, this was a small article, I expanded it into a longer piece following consultation with the Secretary General of IFME (International Federation of Municipal Engineering). Since then Robert Huxford and I have added bits and pieces on an an occasional basis. I'd like to add a link to this year's Smeaton Lecture on James Newlands, the first Borough Engineer.

= Apologies =

  • {{User|Dumelow}}. I'd love to come down and take a look around but I will have to rearrange a few things and would probably be able to come just for the morning. Unfortunately I am not going to be able to make it. However, as an ICE member and Wikipedia editor with an interest in historical engineering, I would love to attend any similar future events (would be easier for me with a bit more notice). Cheers - Dumelow (talk) 14:47, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
  • {{User|Rstory}}. Thank-you for the invitation, but I am not able to make it this time round.
  • Apologies. Not this time. Have a successful day. -- Clem Rutter (talk) 14:15, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Sorry I couldn't make it - clashed with a hospital appointment. Will catch up now by seeing what I can do with those red links. Andrew Davidson (talk) 10:28, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
