(The hoax will be archived instead, it's fine to close this. Read comment below)
WP:MADEUP under a draft namespace. Marked as hoax and COI. Text is copy and pasted from Oggy and the Cockroaches too (but with a yellow guy and Pencilmation characters), curiously enough - wouldn't say it's a ripoff, but... yeah... definitely madeup. Might need to put it as a Wikipedia hoax subpage? (If it's fine to archive it, it's a strange case of MADEUP).
It should be noted it started as [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Joey_and_the_Pencilcartoons&oldid=1104964483 an orphaned talk page] where the contributor claimed it was a series created by Alvin Hung and Ross Bollinger, the latter who created Pencilmation and... the former, the GoAnimate creator??? --WannurSyafiqah74 (talk) 05:43, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
:@ReaderofthePack Hey, sorry to mention you like this, but would you mind looking into this? We don't need to archive it, but it's a very peculiar case of a hoax. WannurSyafiqah74 (talk) 12:35, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
::Page is no longer edited by the IP, so it is flagged as a hoax for now. WannurSyafiqah74 (talk) 03:54, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
- It's definitely a hoax. It looks like it's a mixture of three things: Pencilmation, Pencil Cartoons, and Oggy, as well as a generous sprinkling of general hoax material. As far as I can see, the Pencil Cartoons is popular, but not so popular that it would warrant its own page. It's likely the same IP I blocked a bit back for the same thing that's doing this, but unfortunately there's not a lot we can do. I can block the IPs, but they'll start editing from a new one. I can also protect pages as needed, but that's kind of an after the fact element. I can do a range block and see if that works, but that can have the unfortunate side-effect of blocking the innocent. If we do, the IP range would be 79.79.152.192/26. (That's more for my memory/benefit if that's what should be done.) ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 19:43, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
- :I've made a subpage for the IP with their hoax (update: speedy deleted as per reason: wrong namespace), because I honestly think it's the strangest hoax if I've ever seen one. You might as well delete the original draft article now, I've added the template hoax demo on the archive. WannurSyafiqah74 (talk) 06:36, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
- ::I'm not sure about any other IPs who've made hoax edits regarding pencil cartoons. I do know the IP also edited Bendy and the Ink Machine to be American-British (I think) and contain British voice actors, for whatever reason. Other times (e.g. The Cuphead Show, Pakdam Pakdai) they didn't vandalize. Weird stuff. WannurSyafiqah74 (talk) 06:44, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
- ::IPs could be dynamic, if this is kept by any chance, I'd suggest moving the IP subpage under Wikipedia:List of hoaxes on Wikipedia as a subpage, which is the standard practice for hoaxes of interest. I don't think this goes that far honestly. —CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {C•X}) 16:16, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
- :::I see. Well, I never considered that. I just archived it as the IP's subpage since they made it and presumably IP hopped. WannurSyafiqah74 (talk) 05:21, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
- Weak Delete as an apparent hoax. If the author can provide good sources in seven days, this draft can be kept. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:42, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
- :Fun fact: [https://m.youtube.com/results?search_query=joey+and+the+pencilcartoons it's not even a real webseries.] Google search also turns up nothing, it's just an unrelated series called "Pencil Cartoons" with Joey looking like whatever Pencilmate's supposed to be. Just, y'know, without color-coded clothing. WannurSyafiqah74 (talk) 05:23, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
- ::@Robert McClenon Weak delete indeed, I think it's better to move it as a subpage of Wikipedia's list of hoaxes, as @CX Zoom suggested. WannurSyafiqah74 (talk) 05:32, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
- Weak delete - You know what, I realized I sounded like an absolute idiot when I started this thread (first time for everything?) Looking back, it's an extremely weak delete - it really is better off archived as a subpage for List of hoaxes on Wikipedia. Maybe close this sometime, since this isn't a notable or even real webseries. WannurSyafiqah74 (talk) 05:40, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
- :@ReaderofthePack Sorry again, but if you're active sometime, please feel free to close this thread. I've moved the draft. I sounded stupid when I started this, but I guess newbies gotta be newbies. WannurSyafiqah74 (talk) 06:02, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
