Yet another old, abandoned non-portal: a static set of a small range of topic types. There is a DYK list, but no slideshow, and no rotation of pages on refresh, and no lists of key topics. It's just a slim, single-issue magazine.

This portal was created[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Portal:Hamilton,_Ontario&oldid=120324101] in 2007 by {{User|The Canadian Roadgeek}}, and expanded a little in April/May 2010‎ by {{User|Moxy}}. The very limited set of subpages at Special:PrefixIndex/Portal:Hamilton, Ontario all appear to date from 2007 or 2010, since when there have been zero updates to Portal:Hamilton, Ontario/Selected article, Portal:Hamilton, Ontario/Selected biography, Portal:Hamilton, Ontario/Selected panoramic picture, and only minor formatting tweaks to Portal:Hamilton, Ontario/Selected picture and Portal:Hamilton, Ontario/Did you know.

Per WP:PORTAL, "Portals serve as enhanced 'Main Pages' for specific broad subjects" ... but this abandoned page is just a pale shadow of the featured-class head articleHamilton, Ontario and its excellent navbox Template:Hamilton, Ontario.

This is a city of about 500,000 people, and although not an ancient city it (it dates from the early 19th century), it probably has enough content to create a viable portal if anyone had the energy to build and maintain it — which they haven't for the last 12 years.

So I propose that this portal and its sub-pages be deleted without prejudice to recreating a curated portal which is not a redundant fork, in accordance with whatever criteria the community may have agreed at that time'. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 00:16, 6 May 2019 (UTC)

• Delete this abandoned heritage portal. The subject city, while larger than some non-starter towns, still hardly qualifies as a broad subject area, and this portal isn't being maintained. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:18, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
• Comment. This isn't a particularly narrow topic. The city has 537,000 inhabitants, plus nearly 750,000 in the wider urban area; although it isn't particularly old (founded after 1812), there's a couple of hundred years of well-documented history to go at. The head article is featured. :Category:Hamilton, Ontario appears well populated. Prior to The Transhumanist's involvement, the introduction was much more attractive. However, the portal appears to have been static, with just one each of article, bio and image, plus some other static content. Is anyone willing to expand this?
