• Keep Historic map showing the Warsangali Sultanate's dominion circa 1857. Correctly tagged as fair use since no free alternatives exist due to the map's one-of-a-kind historical nature. • I think you haven't understood the point. It is very likely we don't even need to invoke fair use, because it's public domain. We just need to know when and where it was published. If it was actually made and published in the mid-19th century, which seems quite likely, then it's {{tl|PD-old}} and there is no restriction on its use at all. But so far you have only stated that it shows a state of affairs in the 19th century, but we don't know for certain that it was made at that time. – In the (not very likely) event that it was made considerably later and is actually non-free, then the fair use claim would be invalid, because it would fail NFCC#1: such a map could always be replaced by a new self-drawn map showing the same historic state of affairs. – There is also the issue of correct sourcing, not in terms of copyright policy but in terms of encyclopedic content: in order to be used properly, it is crucial that the map can be cited properly to its original source, not just to some website that happens to mirror this excerpt. By the way, what do you mean by "official website"? The sultanate no longer exists, so how can it have an official website? Fut.Perf. ☼ 21:16, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
• I agree that the map probably meets PD-old. Also, the Sultanate still exists (though it's obviously ceremonial at this point), and that really is its official website. Original source is no longer available (and can't be got at by the waybackmachine) to verify. • Delete: there is no evidence the uploaded can freely licence this image which may still be under copyright of the publisher of the book it appears in, or belong to the photographer who took the photo.
