Chanelle is too ambiguous a term to sit as a redirect to Chanelle Hayes; that subject is not the term's primary topic. Misusing the page this way contributes difficulty to users seeking Wikipedia content where Chanelle is a component of the article's title (given name, surname, nickname, or something else). For example: it was exceedingly difficult for me to find Chanel West Coast knowing only her first name and believing it was spelled Chanelle.
I am convinced that Chanelle should be re-purposed as a disambiguation page for the term and that Chanelle (disambiguation) should ultimately redirect to it. The page has a non-trivial [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Chanelle&action=history editing history] as well and, IMO, its history should be retained.--John Cline (talk) 20:02, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
- Set-indexify as WP:APO given name page (with "See also" links for Chanel (disambiguation), etc.); multiple people by this name (Special:PrefixIndex/Chanelle), so it shouldn't redirect to just one of them 59.149.124.29 (talk) 08:29, 9 February 2018 (UTC)
- Also, I don't see anything worth retaining in the edit history, besides the initial redirect back in 2008 and the RFD nomination itself. I didn't notice it until now, but the overwhelming majority of the edit history consists of a spate of vandalism in 2011, which ranges from flat-out nonsense to libellous attacks on named individuals. Some of it is sufficiently awful that I'd suggest the closing admin just WP:REVDEL everything from that year, given that all the vandalism appears to have been done by a single person. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 02:22, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
- :I stand on my original opinion that the editing history is non-trivial and suggest that re-purposing the page be accomplished by merging the content and history of Chanelle (disambiguation) with Chanelle's content and history to establish Chanelle as the main disambiguation page for the ambiguous term. While I do not agree that any specific revisions require deletion, I will not challenge tool usage on revisions deleted should an admin consider my opinion, and yet dissent.--John Cline (talk) 05:30, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
- ::I'm happy to leave it up to the discretion of the closing admin too, I don't think this is worth a relist just to decide what to do with the edit history when we're in agreement about the basic outcome (that this shouldn't be a redirect). My apologies as I somehow didn't notice that Chanelle (disambiguation) has been blue all along when I drafted a separate set-index underneath this redirect. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 06:00, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
