Not mentioned in target article. Doesn't seem to This may be an alternative name for the subject at Cipollino marble. either. The nominated redirect has incoming links, so I would imagine that there is a subject somewhere out there to target this redirect, but in lieu of that, it may need to be deleted per WP:REDLINK. - ...Hmm, this may indeed be an alternative name for the subject at Cipollino marble, but I'm not completely sure; in effect, I've updated my nomination statement. Steel1943 (talk) 23:03, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
- It's the French term for Marmo cipollino. [https://www.larousse.fr/dictionnaires/francais/cipolin/16113)] Vexations (talk) 23:46, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, retarget to Cipollino marble is the right way to go. That article was only created in 2011, and the redirect dates to 2006, so at that time the generic "marble" was the best target. The term is occasionally in use in English sources, e.g. [https://books.google.be/books?id=qd03xsccJVEC&pg=PA30&dq=cipolin&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi5xe6yja3nAhVGyqQKHa9aDvQQ6AEIXDAG#v=onepage&q=cipolin&f=false here a few times] or [https://books.google.be/books?id=75AtAQAAMAAJ&q=cipolin&dq=cipolin&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi5xe6yja3nAhVGyqQKHa9aDvQQ6AEIdjAJ here] or [https://books.google.be/books?id=g2AeAQAAMAAJ&q=cipolin&dq=cipolin&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj77Jjmr63nAhULZlAKHeRbBFI4ChDoAQhAMAM here], clearly referring to a kind of marble. The fact that cipolin and cipollino are the French and Italian names for the same or very similar things can be seen [https://books.google.be/books?id=eLpGAQAAMAAJ&pg=RA8-PA8&dq=cipolin+cipollino&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjApMn9r63nAhVCLVAKHTaGCUUQ6AEINTAB#v=onepage&q=cipolin%20cipollino&f=false here] or [https://books.google.be/books?id=FXP9OyuSG_oC&q=cipolin+cipollino&dq=cipolin+cipollino&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjApMn9r63nAhVCLVAKHTaGCUUQ6AEIPTAC here], or in this recent [https://books.google.be/books?id=2UX1CAAAQBAJ&pg=PA92&lpg=PA92&dq=%22cipolin%22+cipollino+marble&source=bl&ots=mk1mVQQlpE&sig=ACfU3U3gw6N-zKvyR7DnG6Z4Yxli7VhTHw&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjc49nisK3nAhWBKVAKHTkuBzQ4ChDoATALegQICRAB#v=onepage&q=%22cipolin%22%20cipollino%20marble&f=false gem dictionary]. - Retarget to cipollino marble. The first five Google hits were English dictionary definitions, several of which ([https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/cipolin e.g this]), from Collins Dictionary, equate it with cipollino. Narky Blert (talk) 10:07, 31 January 2020 (UTC)
