Reasons: More delving will be helpful here, but I think I've stumbled onto an seemingly endless pit of socks of Maleabroad. If they're not Maleabroad, they still feel very much like all the same person -- same accusations of vandalism when edits are challenged, same aggressiveness, same nasty attitude. I only went a couple levels deep; it just seems so blatant I didn't trust my own judgment. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 16:44, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

  • {{clerknote}} Unless you still have CheckUser data for this user, could you provide a userlink for a more recent Maleabroad sock? That seems like the only way to establish a technical connection between these users and Maleabroad. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not wikidrama) 17:52, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
  • I don't have any Maleabroad data; however, another editor noted that one of these seemed to be Maleabroad, so I took a look. I'd been involved in a content dispute with one of them, hence passing it off to some other CU. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 19:30, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
  • {{clerknote}} From a cursory glance, it appears that {{user|Auto Correct}} is the most recent suspected sock of Maleabroad. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not wikidrama) 17:59, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Now as a non-clerk, I must admit that the editing pattern of some of the aforementioned users is very similar to that of Maleabroad. Even if CheckUser determines otherwise, I think there's sufficient contribution evidence to determine sockpuppetry. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not wikidrama) 17:59, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
  • {{confirmed}} all, plus {{user|Valid Keys}} and {{user|Sufficient Memory}} are the same user. Whether or not they are Maleabroad seems a technical quibble at best. Thatcher 23:05, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Based on a second source of information, these editors are connected with the same institution and the same /24 range as Maleabroad was using a year and a half ago. Make of that what you will. Thatcher 23:12, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
  • {{clerknote}} Good enough for me, blocked all. {{user|JaiMadeshi}} is a non-existent user. The actual username was {{user|Jai Madhesh!}}; could you check that one as well? Nishkid64 (Make articles, not wikidrama) 23:26, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
  • That's confirmed as well. Thatcher 00:49, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

=== Maleabroad (3rd request) ===

{{rfcu box|case=Maleabroad|filed=06:31, 21 March 2007 (UTC)}}

  • {{checkuser|Maleabroad}}

  • {{checkuser|Randomatom001}}
  • {{checkuser|Algorithm1}}
  • {{checkuser|ENVI1}}
  • {{checkuser|Redtigerxyz1}}
  • {{checkuser|Timeroom1}}
  • {{checkuser|Story Teller 00}}
  • {{checkuser|Omkar y}}
  • {{checkuser|Great window}}
  • {{checkuser|Truly_Views}}
  • {{checkuser|AnthroExpert1}}
  • Code letter: C, F

Reasons:

  • Similar pattern of contributions on a multitude of pages with POV pushing (including creation of new POV fork article Hindu (Culture), deleted after AFD), similar edit summaries (accusing other editors of jealousy [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Narasimha&diff=prev&oldid=116329104], saying that there is no consensus for reversion [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Genetics_and_Archaeogenetics_of_South_Asia&diff=prev&oldid=116796835] etc)
  • Some of the socks have uploaded images such as [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log/delete&page=Image:102_0449.JPG] and [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&user=Randomatom001 these] (which incidentally are copyvios with incorrect tags), which are then added to articles by other socks.
  • User:Redtigerxyz1 has taken a name deceptively similar to User:Redtigerxyz (a editor in good standing) and then edited the same article Ganesha beyond Hinduism.
  • Further discussions on these incidents can be found here, here, here, here, here and here.
  • There are many other suspected socks of User:Maleabroad listed in this category and many of them are unblocked; it will be useful if CU could ferret out more and some admin could block them. Abecedare 17:11, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

:: Further evidence: {{vandal|Algorithm1}} recreated article Hindu (Culture) that was a product of three other socks of Maleabroad, and was deleded after an AFD discussion. Abecedare 17:37, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

:{{Unnecessary}}. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 20:48, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

:: Jpgordon, can you please clarify if "Unnecessary" means that the above listed accounts can be treated as confirmed socks of Melabroad based on the presented evidence and hence blocked. I ask because, User:Randomatom001 has been disputing (or rather demanding evidence that he is a sock :-) ) and I wanted to be certain myself, before responding and requesting a block. Thanks. Abecedare 21:41, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

:::It's unnecessary because you've provided enough information to demonstrate that they're socks without checkuser helping. But since you asked, I ran the full thing, and every one of them (with the exception of Omkar Y) are on the same college network. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 21:54, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

:::: Thanks Josh. I'll try to keep Maleabroad requests to a minimum, although I dare say his socks will be with us for a long time, especially since range block of college IPs is infeasible. Regards. Abecedare 22:18, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

=== Maleabroad (2nd request) ===

{{rfcu box|case=Maleabroad|filed=06:31, 6 March 2007 (UTC)}}

  • {{checkuser|Maleabroad}}

  • {{checkuser|TypeEditor1}}
  • Code letter: F

Reasons:

  1. User account was created after previous sockpuppets of User:Maleabroad were blocked.
  2. User's edit summaries are very similar to those used by Maleabroad and puppets (eg [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Indra&diff=prev&oldid=112361806]).
  3. User edits same topics as Maleabroad (although this is a bit of a stretch - it's a broad range).
  4. User account name follows pattern of previous sock puppet accounts by Maleabroad (TypeEditor1, [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=block&page=User:Flourescent1 Flourescent1], [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=block&page=User:Draft1 Draft1], [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=block&page=User:Spectral01 Spectral01] for example).

Maleabroad was blocked by consensus for POV-pushing, edit warring, sock puppetry and so on (see [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive184#User:Maleabroad]), hence the code letter F. Orpheus 08:11, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Additional info: Primary (Maleabroad) account hasn't been used for a while. Most recent one was {{checkuser|Lineroad}} (already blocked).

  • {{checkuser|Reversionist}}
  • {{checkuser|Screen name1234}}

Please compare edit summaries. User:Reversionist also recreated article Brahmin Contributions to Other Religions that User:Maleabroad (and hos sockpuppets, such as User:HinduDefender) edited/created under various names.
