{{user|Mauricio80}} was indef blocked in August 2012 for an odd pattern of vandalism: creating new articles about fictional international sporting events. Two apparent socks surfaced, {{user|World210}} and {{user|Trate32}}, showing the same pattern.
Trate32 recreated World Games 2021 [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Undelete&target=World+Games+2021×tamp=20121226193913&diff=prev], which had been originally been created by Mauricio80 [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Undelete&target=World+Games+2021×tamp=20120821173706&diff=prev|diff]. Also note the similar user name pattern. Both Trate32 [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Undelete&target=2013+Cafe+de+colombia+Cup×tamp=20121226191332&diff=prev] and World210 [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Undelete&target=Cafe+de+colombia+Cup×tamp=20121227023354&diff=prev] created pages for the fictional "Café de Colombia Cup". The listed IPs each made multiple contributions to Cafe de colombia Cup.
A checkuser is requested to root out other socks and to confirm if an IP hardbock would be useful. caknuck ° needs to be running more often 05:25, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Olympia2000 and Hongkong43 have both been creating articles about fictional international sporting events, mimicking actions of other Mauricio80 socks. Olympia2000 added fake information ([http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2013_East_Asian_Games&diff=prev&oldid=532592199 here] and [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2013_South_Asian_Games&diff=prev&oldid=532593468 here]) and created the hoax articles AFC King Asian Cup, 2017 AFC King Asian Cup and 2015 AFC Asian cup National Anthems performances. Hongkong created the hoax articles 2013 Asian Pacific Football 7-a-side Championship, 2013 African and South American Championship, Futsal at the 2013 World Indoor Games, 2013 World Indoor Games, Futsal at the 2013 World Indoor Games, 2012 Peace Star Cup and 2012 Peace Star Cup qualification. Unistre34 created the fake article 2014 EAFF U-20 East Asian Cup, acting in a manner similar to Mauricio and his previous sockpuppets. The two IPs have both contributed to said article, which leads me to believe that they are socks of Mauricio's as well. One will notice that this vandal has a history of editing this way and his edits frequently go unnoticed at first glance. While it is important to note that one of the articles created by the suspected sockpuppet, 2013 EAFF East Asian Cup is legitimate, this user's edits continue to be disruptive. :This case was opened about three weeks ago, so unfortunately I've lost track. The diffs are the first edits on the articles cited above. The socks of this editor and [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Mauricio80/Archive Mauricio93] were creating very short articles about future sports events. The articles typically have little or no text, and are usually merely listings of countries with flag icons or similar non-text content. User:Salvio giuliano was directly involved in investigating these cases in the recent past, and I was reported them directly to him, but I think he took a wiki break, so I started reported them here again. - MrX 13:38, 3 March 2013 (UTC)

Reviewing new pages I've discovered 2014 Nagoya Cup by Zaire200, quite without content and with no thraces on Google. Following his contribs I've rollbacked 'em and reported him [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Administrator_intervention_against_vandalism&oldid=597603574 at WP:AIV] along with Wales21, blocked one day before and acting in the same field. For example take a look to [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Colombia_national_football_team&diff=597441193&oldid=597440973 this edit by Wales] and [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Colombia_national_football_team&diff=597569780&oldid=597441713 this one of Zaire]. Following the history of [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Colombia_national_football_team&action=history Colombia national football team] I've followed some user contribs (most of them rollbacked by Brayan Jaimes) and at least 3 or 4 of them could coincide. Ruso45 edited from 16 to 18 January, creating 2014 Hana Bank Cup that has no thraces on Google and [http://us.soccerway.com/matches/2014/05/26/world/friendlies/korea-republic/tunisia/1640048/ the only reference] confirms that South Korea will not play a match vs Czech Rep. on 4 June 2014 and that the match vs Tunisia is a simple friendly before the World Cup match vs Russia. Ruso45 re created the page [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2015_AFC_Asian_Cup_Final_Draw&oldid=596071611 2015 AFC Asian Cup Final Draw] (before a redirect), that was edited by Feroz2000. Feroz edited only on 20 february, adding other content to 2014 Hana Bank Cup and to [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2015_AFC_Asian_Cup_Final_Draw&diff=596369452&oldid=596075380 2015 AFC final draw] (removing multiple issues tag). Sangson2000 made few edits in the afternoon of 21 february [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Colombia_national_football_team&diff=596528913&oldid=596520544 as this one (rollbacked)], related to a friendly of Colombia NFT, or this one [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2013_A-League_Grand_Final&diff=596509755&oldid=596479657 to singer name of a national anthem]. Unted200 edited on 22 february, almost in the page [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2015_AFC_Asian_Cup_Final_Draw&diff=596694612&oldid=596369452 2015 AFC Asian Cup Final Draw] and, as [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2014_Winter_Olympics_closing_ceremony&diff=prev&oldid=596361012 Feroz did], started with a pair of edits in [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2014_Winter_Olympics_closing_ceremony&diff=prev&oldid=596684675 Sochi 2014 closing ceremony] (as for the current version, both users were wrong. One hour after his last edit, it appears Werung23, starting the creation of 2016 AFC United of Asia Cup (no thraces on Google, possibly a WP:CRYSTAL also). After a pair of edits at 2015 AFC Asian Cup Final Draw and 2014 Hana Bank Cup, his last edit was [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Colombia_national_football_team&diff=597165338&oldid=597149988 this one (rollbacked)], again about matches of Colombia NFT. Between 26 and 27 February it appears Wales21, with rollbacked edits [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2014_Cyprus_Cup&diff=597429184&oldid=597428453 as this] (again about Colombia, and on a "2014 cup" page, this time existant and referenced). Apart the edit for comparison with Zaire200 I made above, Wales21 made [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Colombia_women%27s_national_football_team&diff=597429480&oldid=597282589 vandalisms as this one (rollbacked)] on the page of Colombia women's NFT and other, gaining a [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log/block&page=User%3AWales21 48 hours block].
The connections between the users are different (WP:DUCK), and after 2 hours of controls I hope I was able to link the right ones and exclude those who are not involved into this issue.
- Users look like a relay team: starting from Ruso (16-18 Feb), than Feroz (20 Feb), Sangson (21 Feb), Unted (22 feb), Fenia (25 feb, afternoon), Wegrun (25-26 Feb), Wales (26-27 Feb) and Zaire (28 Feb/1 Mar). After 1 or 2 days of edits they stop and the other continue.
- Edit times are at almost in the evening/night (20 to 1 am), or sometimes in the afternoon.
- The field is almost the same, related to friendlies of NFT (National Football Teams) without sources, suddenly rollbacked as hoaxes. Another is the creation of pages about football competitions, also future as 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualification (by Ruso) or 2019 AFC Kingdom Nations Cup (by Ruso, no thraces on Google, so possibly another hoax). By now we have 2014 Nagoya Cup (deleted as hoax), 2014 Hana Bank Cup and 2016 AFC United of Asia Cup (both, as said, unsourced and with no refs on Google). Another field is about singers of anthems/hymns and Olympics.
- Their edits are difficult to unmask: most of them are minor edits well formatted (in a table about friendlies)... and the hoax cups have plausible names: Nagoya, Hana Bank, AFC United, AFC Kingdom.
- Also the names are similar: a nick and after a digit. 200, 2000, 21, 23, 45. Last two are related to Wales and Zaire.
I hope I did a correct investigation, to have discovered that a vandal is makin' fun of us from 2 weeks changing account about once per day, with no resounding vandalisms but spreading a series of semi-invisible vandalisms buried here and there. Some of the edits look like correct (or maybe they are), but it could be a strategy: this is not a "page blanker" or a vandal using the edit summary to say wft trololol!!1. And, anyway, some of their contribs haven't been verified, also because they are "old" and in pages with lots of (also anon) edits. Thanks for attention. Dэя-Бøяg 03:49, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
- Older users discovered: Going back in the page 2015 AFC Asian Cup Final Draw, transformed in a redirect to 2015 AFC Asian Cup before the edits of Ruso, I've discovered that its creator, Andrma20 (18-22 Jan), made also edits [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=South_Korea_national_football_team&diff=prev&oldid=591333232 as this one], a false friendly match of Korea with El Salvador (see [http://us.soccerway.com/matches/2014/05/26/world/friendlies/korea-republic/tunisia/1640048/ this source]) and other similar ones. Werty23 (23-27 Jan) seems [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Colombia_national_football_team&diff=prev&oldid=592653785 to be related] with several edits into the same field. GrupoHKG23 (30 Jan-1 Feb), that made the other contribs on hte Final Draws article after Andrma, added [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=South_Korea_national_football_team&diff=prev&oldid=593165849 this other edit] about a false friendly match (Korea vs Armenia). His last edit was to change [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Curling_at_the_2014_Winter_Olympics&diff=prev&oldid=593362230 China to Colombia] in Curling at Sochi 2014. Before Andrma, Juanes200 (10-18 Jan), with a nickname related to others, made edits in the same field: see for example [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=South_Korea_national_football_team&diff=prev&oldid=590150447 this false friendly match] between South Korea and Sri Lanka, or this edit about [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Colombia_national_football_team&diff=prev&oldid=590164831 Colombia NFT]. Andrma [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=South_Korea_national_football_team&diff=591333232&oldid=591298340 started where Juanes finished]. Beging23 (1-3 Feb) seems to be related (see [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2015_AFC_Asian_Cup&diff=593511257&oldid=593509057 this]) for field, style, and period. The older i've found still now is Golan23 (29 Dec-1 Jan, 4 edits) seems to be realted per nick, hours, and style (see this friendlies in [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=South_Korea_national_football_team&diff=prev&oldid=588238770 Korea] and... [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Colombia_national_football_team&diff=prev&oldid=588240193 Colombia], of course). Note that the "23" often recurs in the nicks.
Checking "histories", mainly of South Korea and Colombia national football teams, I found more and more possible and older vandals related to this issue. Also some IPs. The list could be much larger and the damage much more extensive, with an amount of uncontrolled edits, submerged by several other edits. I don't know if is possible to change this page to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Golan23 but with Ruso45 the work become daily and lesser occasional. Regards. --Dэя-Бøяg 04:58, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
:Just a note: Due to the fact that 2015 AFC Asian Cup Final Draw was mainly edited by the users listed above, is a minor subpage and has some tags, i've tagged for merging into 2015 AFC Asian Cup#Final Draw. Usa94 add [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Colombia_national_football_team&diff=prev&oldid=603024049 the usual vandalism on Colombia NFT] and (again) the usual hoax cup (I've seen on Google, it is at least an online game) without any content but with a list of teams including, of course, South Korea and Colombia. This user made [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=South_Korea_national_football_team&diff=prev&oldid=607237244 a single edit] into South Korea national football team, [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=South_Korea_national_football_team&diff=next&oldid=607237244 rollbacked] by another user. This time I'm not sure as other times, but the field is the same (South Korea national football team) and nick style (name + digits) is compatible with Mauricio's style. I would to specify that I don't get confused with any name + digit users acting in this pages: in this case, although I'm really not sure, there are elements that make me suspect. Suddenly Mauricio's SP make few (or single) edits and he uses them for no longer than a day or two. Just to be sure, to get a confirmation or not. All three edited 2015 AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament, the two named socks both created it. Juanew30 also created 2015 King's Cup. User:Gils34, a tagged sock of Mauricio80, created, apart from similar nonsense like 2025 FIFA Confederations Cup (until now a redirect, I'll just delete it instead), the 2014 King's Cup article. Note also the similarity of the username to another blocked sock, User:Juanes200.
I also seriously wonder whether the Mauricio80 sockfarm and the equally large User:FallandSpringOlympics sockfarm aren't one and the same. They have created many similar hoax articles on (often Asian) football tournaments, e.g. the contribs of User:Rio2InParadise. I even blocked User:Italiano34 as a sock of FallandSpring, only to have him checkusered as a Mauricio sock. Can a checkuser see whether the two sock farms are somehow technically related? A checkuser would be good in any case here, as there have been many socks in the past so chances are that already a few are editing. Fram (talk) 08:39, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Haiti2002 is creating articles about future sporting events consisting almost entirely of flog icons and links to countries. All these users/IPs belong to one person who is a vandalizer, you can follow those IP edits to find the connection between them. I'm not complete sure if this is the same person as this sock but his field of interest and the way he just enjoys to add phantom host cities to sport events are similar. This one is a dangerous vandazlier since his vandalizing edits are not that obvious, I think this deserves a little more attention. there are probably much more accounts/IPs and phantom articles. Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:23, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
: I can't give those things since all of his hoax articles he created are already deleted. The sockmaster used to create hoax articles about future sport events and these accounts are doing the same. btw he probably already created another account(s) to vandalize wikipedia somewhere else, I doubt he uses these accounts anymore. - {{moreinfo}} - {{re|Mohsen1248}} In order to facilitate and expedite your request, please provide diffs to support your case. Please give two or more diffs meeting the following format:
- At least one diff is from the sockmaster (or an account already blocked as a confirmed sockpuppet of the sockmaster), showing the behaviour characteristic of the sockmaster.
- At least one diff per suspected sockpuppet, showing the suspected sockpuppet emulating the behaviour of the sockmaster given in the first diff.
- In situations where it is not immediately obvious from the diffs what the characteristic behaviour is, a short explanation must be provided. Around one sentence is enough for this. Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 03:41, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- Admin action needed - Admin, it'd be great if you could investigate the deleted contribs of the listed editors. Thanks! Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 21:27, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- {{adminnote}} Here's what I see:
- FallandSpringOlympics created a hoax article listing Olympics occurring in odd-numbered years on his user page in September 2013; he was the only editor. He also uploaded File:2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.png, a hoax about a FIFA tournament in South Africa in 2016. Again, he was the only editor save some license tagging before it was tagged for CSD#G3. FallandSpringOlympics does have an extensive contribution history outside this article that obviously stopped after his indefinite block.
- Sanglan231 created the hoax article 2016 AFF U-23 Youth Championship on March 15. He has no other edits outside this article. The 181.x.x.x IP edited the article to add dates and a flagicon.
- Kangson2001 created the hoax article Football at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's tournament on March 18. He has no other edits outside this article. It was prodded, and the 181.x.x.x IP removed the PROD tag.
- The other IP did not edit the articles at all.
- Based on the behavioral evidence, I think it would be worthwhile to ask for CU to see if these are related and to check for sleepers. I'm not sure FallandSpringOlympics is the master, though. Katietalk 20:28, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
- {{Requestandendorse}} - Based on {{U|KrakatoaKatie}}'s reply, please check the listed accounts. Thanks! Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 22:21, 25 April 2016 (UTC)

Creating articles about future sporting events which consist entirely of lists of countries and their flags. Also, the username follows the pattern of some of the past socks (it ends with "231"). - MrX 20:19, 18 June 2017 (UTC)
