;Evidence submitted by O Fenian

See Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive492#Disruptive User at List of best-selling music artists, Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive493#User:Suicidal Lemming and Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive537#Edit warring and Disruptive editing by user Suicidal Lemming for background on this editor, who was previously known as Suicidal Lemming before changing their name.

The initial confirmed link between one of the IPs and the account comes from {{IPvandal|87.115.41.79}}. The IP was repeatedly trolling my talk page, which resulted in it being [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3AO_Fenian&diff=286913722&oldid=286910365 semi-protected]. Immediately after the semi-protection, the editor switched to their account as can be seen with [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3AO_Fenian&diff=286947620&oldid=286913722 this edit]. This editor has been involved in lengthy arguments at the C.S. Lewis article, and if you compare [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:C._S._Lewis&diff=prev&oldid=286903105 this argument] (from an IP known to have been used by PowerSane as just established) with [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk%3AC._S._Lewis&diff=310976204&oldid=310846619 this argument] (or many others from the IPs on the talk page) you will see a very similar argument. Worth particular note for an insight into the mentality of this editor is the general tone and nature of their comments [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:C._S._Lewis&diff=prev&oldid=310976204 here], in particular sentences such as "I will take this as far as I need to and fight for this for as many years as it will take".

The editor was asked [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3A87.113.68.12&diff=309315883&oldid=309286391 here] if they had previously had an account, and responded by [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:87.113.68.12&diff=prev&oldid=309339588 denying it]. This denials means that as they [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:C._S._Lewis&diff=prev&oldid=286903105 took part in a talk page discussion] about C.S. Lewis with an IP known to have been used by PowerSane (see second paragraph above), any further comments to the same talk page from other IPs (the more recent 87.113.68.12, 87.115.41.79, 87.115.70.5 and 87.112.70.23 can all be linked together due to their extremely narrow commonly edited articles - Matthew Macklin, C.S. Lewis and Tyson Fury) such as [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:C._S._Lewis&diff=prev&oldid=309249961 this], [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:C._S._Lewis&diff=prev&oldid=309286088 this], [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:C._S._Lewis&diff=prev&oldid=309340237 this], [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:C._S._Lewis&diff=prev&oldid=311122585 this], [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:C._S._Lewis&diff=prev&oldid=310976204 this] and many others may constitute abusive sockpuppetry. As the IP editor has denied previously having an account, this means they are not taking responsibility for the earlier edits from {{IPvandal|87.115.41.79}}, and therefore they are attempting to give the impression that two editors are arguing in favour of a particular version, when in fact it is just one. Given this editor's persistent disruption caused by adding nationalities other editors have a genuine interest in tracking their contributions, which is made difficult when they choose to IP hop with dynamic IPs rather than use their account. ;Conclusions

{{SPIclose|archive}}

I've blocked the account. The IPs are on a massive range and thus I don't think one is feasible (the smallest possible one I can locate is 87.115.0.0/17, but that won't have much effect). PeterSymonds (talk) 13:33, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Creating this case mainly to invite review of my block. I've already blocked WiseNinja1 based on the edit-warring over artist nationalities and ethnicities at List of best-selling music artists, which he holds in common with PowerSane, and [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Sockpuppet_investigations/PowerSane/Archive&action=history this creation], where he is basically begging us to make the connection.—Kww(talk) 18:45, 17 May 2011 (UTC) —Kww(talk) 18:45, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Given WiseNinja1's only post to Talk:C. S. Lewis is [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:C._S._Lewis&diff=prev&oldid=419232774 "I was the user who ensured that his nationality was changed from Irish to its present state"] which refers to the discussion that is detailed at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/PowerSane/Archive, this seems obvious to me. The IP's userpage states that it is suspected to be a sock of this account. It was blocked for edit warring, and created the user account above to avoid the block. 1966batfan (talk) 23:16, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Same nationalist posturing on Talk:C. S. Lewis as PowerSane and previous socks. PowerSane is probably too stale to be checked, but I am sure Freyno can be checked against the detailed at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/PowerSane/Archive#21 November 2011. Other than usertalk pages Freyno has edits to only the Amir Khan (boxer) article and Talk:C. S. Lewis, which are the two main editing areas of the IP listed in that report also. • Freyno is using much the same language as PowerSane and his socks, comparing edit wars to real wars and claiming that edit-warring is necessary and justified. Acroterion (talk) 19:27, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
  • Behavioral evidence is strong based on ongoing edits, please check for sleepers. Acroterion (talk) 03:37, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

====<span style="font-size:150%">Clerk, CheckUser, and/or patrolling admin comments</span>====

Went ahead and blocked Freyno. A checkuser certainly isn't necessary to connect these two accounts, but it's still reasonable to see if an IP block is possible.—Kww(talk) 04:03, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

It's {{likely}} that {{user|Cobhams}} is the same as {{user|Freyno}}, et. al. It's also {{possible}}, bordering on {{likely}}, that

{{checkuser|1=Chairvoyance}} is the same {{user|Stop the Cavalry}}, although I strongly encourage a behavioral comparison first. Finally, considering technical data and behavioral clues together, it's {{possible}}, bordering on {{likely}}, that Chairvoyance is a match to {{user|Freyno}}. TNXMan 17:41, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

User is showing an obsession with the British/Irish nationalism question surrounding boxer Tyson Fury; similar questions about British vs. Irish nationalities vis-à-vis boxers have popped up in the past with PowerSane. CityOfSilver 20:10, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

{{MoreInfo}} Please provide some diffs or other evidence, as I don't see they have ever edited the same article. Dennis Brown - © 23:01, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

:IP 86.28.247.252 was blocked as a WP:DUCK sock of PowerSane due to edits regarding warring over C.S. Lewis's nationality. The IP was unblocked months ago but only started editing recently, parallel to Jc1807. That IP's first edit, in September 2011, one whose summary was a sentence starting with "Again," was to [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Matthew_Macklin&diff=prev&oldid=448054974 change boxer Matthew Macklin's nationality from Irish to British and Irish]. This may seem like weak sauce, but Jc1807's edit-warring over a boxer's British-vs.-Irish nationality fits to a T the editing habits of several of PowerSane's socks, per this page's archive. CityOfSilver 16:23, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

Comparing with previous socks, I am convinced of the connection. Blocked and tagged. --MuZemike 23:29, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
