I suspect that sockpuppets are in use in an effort to disrupt, and potentially affect the end result of, an AFD discussion surrounding the article Ukanian (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ukanian). The article was created by {{user|Kbyte9001}} at 21:34 on 23 June 2008. I nominated it for deletion four minutes later. {{user|Kbyte9001}}, {{user|Zaydeecruz}} and {{IPUser|24.234.75.38}} have all participated in the discussion. I suspect that they are being controlled by the same person, in order to try to prevent the deletion of the article. Kbyte and 24.334.75.38 posted near-identical comments, about a day apart - [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ukanian&diff=221298430&oldid=221297418 Kbyte's edit], [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ukanian&diff=221489304&oldid=221480373 24.234.75.38's edit]. Following this, {{user|Zaydeecruz}} joined the discussion, posting a comment similar to another made by the IP user - [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ukanian&diff=221543353&oldid=221543069 Zaydeecruz' edit], [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ukanian&diff=221542888&oldid=221542875 IP user's edit]. The similarities between these styles suggest that the comments were left by the same user. Another similarity between the IP and Zaydeecruz is that they both have attempted to disrupt the discussion by means of moving strike tags around, and deleting them - [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ukanian&diff=221540956&oldid=221507240 Anon], [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ukanian&diff=221544076&oldid=221543675 Zaydeecruz], and both have made multiple votes. --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 00:20, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

  • {{IPUser|70.173.155.210}} has now also engaged in adjusting strike tags on the page - [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Ukanian&diff=221587351&oldid=221587319 see this edit]. A whois check on the two IPs suggests that they are registered to the same company, Cox Communications Inc ([http://www.who.is/whois-ip/ip-address/24.234.75.38/ 24.234.75.38], [http://www.who.is/whois-ip/ip-address/70.173.155.210/ 70.173.155.210]) . I believe that this company is an ISP. On the grounds of similar editing patterns, and the whois check, I am requesting that {{IPUser|70.173.155.210}} be added to the case. I would also like to add that the four suspects have only made one edit between them which was not related to the article Ukanian, or its AfD discussion. --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 11:07, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

I, zaydeecruz, have noted in the discussion that our office has more than 10 people, and should anyone use Wiki it records the exact same IP address. There is no malice. As for the similiar styles and comments, I have no information on that accusation, only that I do have a valid account, and until today did not know how to insert a signature. As for the strike tags, I do not know what that means, only that someone, has made multiple attacks on my comments, my character, my login and has made many many accusations which I feel are inapporpriate. My user is zaydeecruz. I have an account. Just because multiple people and companies use Cox communications in no way is evidence of 'sockpuppetry'. My next door neighbors at my house use Cox.   • Comment your 'geolacate' of both IPs merely shows that Las Vegas has cox communications as an ISP. Quite frankly, you can ban me from Wiki if that floats your boat. I feel this entire entry became a witchhunt, by more than one person. The 'free' encyclopedia has become nothing more than a glorified blog, where anyone with a similiar thought or idea is considered a 'sockpuppet', to coin your phrases. The Ukanian entry was removed, all those who jumped on the 'anyone that posted keep is bad and abusing the policy' bandwagon have won. I joined wiki when i did a google search and found that entry. Now that i realize my comments are disregarded, and have been accused of violating some mystical terms of service, i am nothing short of disappointed and disgusted.
