Its objective is to raise awareness of the gender gap on Wikipedia, improve coverage of women and encourage women to edit. BBC 100 Women is one of the BBC’s most successful news series which names 100 influential and inspirational women around the world every year, creating documentaries, features and interviews with them, as a way to look at women’s rights around the world. It is broadcast on the BBC World Service’s TV, radio and online services in 28 languages and bbc.com to reach global audiences of over 320 million a week. The series is entering its fourth year in 2016 and [http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-24371433 will be on air between 21st November to 8th December]. There are three ways you can participate!

- In connection with BBC 100 Women, the BBC programme "Click" has included an item on Wikipedia and the related editathons. It is billed as: "100 Women Wikipedia Edit-a-thon project: The BBC 100 Women 2016 project includes the question: is the internet sexist? On 8th December, 100 Women is joining up with Wikipedia to hold a 12 hour edit-a-thon, to intervene in that story of the place of women online. Click talks to the BBC’s Fiona Crack."
