The first half of the course is a case study in argument, reading several chapters from Michelle Alexander's The New Jim Crow (we have no other textbook). Students complete a language analysis and do a group presentation on a chapter. After the midpoint of the semester, students get to choose their own topics and will develop an annotated bibliography and complete the full-edit of a Wikipedia page.
