Women was a Canadian indie rock band formed in Calgary in 2008. The group consisted of Patrick Flegel, Christopher Reimer, Matt Flegel and Mike Wallace.{{Cite web|url=https://eventseeker.com/artist/4435-women|title=Women - Artist Profile|last=|first=|date=|website=eventseeker.com|language=en|access-date=2020-01-07}} The band's experimental style, which eschewed the polished post-punk revival sound for lo-fi production techniques and eerie, dissonant soundscapes, proved influential on the post-punk scene of the 2010s onwards.

Their debut album Women was released on Chad VanGaalen's label Flemish Eye on July 8, 2008 in Canada{{cite web|title=Women, S/T|url=http://www.flemisheye.com/content/file/016/FLCR016-WOMEN.pdf|work=one sheet|accessdate=7 May 2013|archive-date=24 September 2015|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150924013710/http://www.flemisheye.com/content/file/016/FLCR016-WOMEN.pdf|url-status=dead}} and on Jagjaguwar in the United States on October 7, 2008.{{cite web|last=Thompson|first=Paul|title=Women Sign to Jagjaguwar, Bring Album to U.S.|url=http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/142543-Men-sign-to-jagjaguwar-bring-album-to-us|work=Pitchfork|accessdate=7 May 2013|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20081030011227/http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/142543-women-sign-to-jagjaguwar-bring-album-to-us|archivedate=30 October 2008|date=25 September 2008}} In October 2010, shortly after the release of Women's second album Public Strain, the band went on indefinite hiatus following a fight on stage at a show at Lucky Bar in Victoria. The group eventually dissolved following Reimer's untimely passing in 2012, with Matt Flegel and Wallace reconvening as Viet Cong (now named Preoccupations), whilst Patrick Flegel started performing under Cindy Lee.

Matt Flegel later confirmed in an interview with Marc Riley on BBC 6 that a fight had in fact broken out on stage between Patrick and the band, prematurely ending their tour.{{cite web|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1caVEIC8eM|title=Viet Cong BBC 6 Radio Session (2/2)|last=Connor Dennehy|date=10 May 2015|publisher=|via=YouTube}} Pitchfork released a three-song live video in February 2011 shot in an empty factory a few weeks before the band's indefinite hiatus.{{cite web|url=http://pitchfork.com/tv/special-presentation/1507-women/ |title=Pitchfork.tv |publisher=Pitchfork.com |date=2012-03-23 |accessdate=2013-05-07}}
