Yan Wenming ({{zh|s=严文明}}; October 1932 – 14 April 2024) was a Chinese archaeologist who was a professor at Peking University.{{cite news |url=https://www.bjsk.org.cn/expertdetail-1488-1489-11286.html |script-title=zh:严文明 |work=bjsk.org.cn |date=2002 |access-date=16 April 2024 |language=zh}} He was vice president of the {{ill|Chinese Society of Archaeology|zh|中国考古学会}}.
Biography
Yan was born in Huarong County, Hunan, in October 1932.{{cite news |author1=Gao Kai ({{lang|zh|高凯}}) |url=https://www.chinanews.com.cn/cul/2024/04-15/10198951.shtml |script-title=zh:著名考古学家严文明逝世 享年92岁 |work=chinanews.com.cn |date=15 April 2024 |access-date=16 April 2024 |language=zh}} After graduating from the History Department of Peking University in 1958, he stayed for teaching. He was promoted to full professor in December 1986 and to doctoral supervisor in 1990.
