Ingredients

Classic zrazy have a rolled shape and are made of thin slices of beef, which is flavored with salt and pepper and stuffed with vegetables, mushrooms, eggs, and potato.

History

It is unknown exactly when this dish was invented as well as which region of the former Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth first produced it; both Poland and Lithuania claim to have created zrazy.{{cite web|url=http://www.globusjourneys.com/Common/Know-Before-You-Go/Lithuania.pdf|format=PDF|title=Lithuania : Fun Facts|website=Globusjourneys.com\accessdate=30 September 2018|access-date=28 July 2017|archive-date=26 June 2020|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20200626210936/https://www.globusjourneys.com/Common/Know-Before-You-Go/Lithuania.pdf|url-status=dead}}

In its traditional shape, it probably comes from Lithuanian cuisine, although its name comes from Polish and means a slice of meat or roast cut off from the whole.{{Cite web |title=Opis obyczajów i zwyczajów za panowania Augusta III - Wikiźródła, wolna biblioteka |url=https://pl.wikisource.org/wiki/Opis_obyczaj%C3%B3w_i_zwyczaj%C3%B3w_za_panowania_Augusta_III |access-date=2022-05-19 |website=pl.wikisource.org |language=pl}}
