He created a parallel between his contemporary photographs and drawings made by naturalist artists of these expeditions in those places more than two centuries ago.
In 2016 he won the award Prix Jules Ducros-Aubert of the Société de Géographie for his photographic work on the French explorers https://www.cfdagroup.com/communication/CP_Soc_Geo_Prix_2016.pdf.
In the same year, the Australian state of South Australia organised an exhibition of his photographs at the State Library of South Australiahttps://www.sbs.com.au/language/french/en/podcast-episode/frederic-mouchet-the-south-australia-of-the-french-explorers-photographic-exhibition/cvst3agn4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2lr5K9F278
