Splitting proposal
I purpose that this page be moved to Jimmy Donaldson and MrBeast. The MrBeast company and brand is much bigger than just jimmy now. TzarN64 (talk) 01:15, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
:I don't understand how exactly you'd split the two. Isn't one the alias of the other? Sergecross73 msg me 16:16, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
::MrBeast is an company and a brand, and Jimmy Donaldson owns it. I think its time for these articles to be split at this point; as the brand and company is much bigger than just jimmy now. TzarN64 (talk) 20:34, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
:::I can't say I see the need. Feels like saying we need separate articles for Sean Combs and P Diddy or Shawn Carter and Jay Z. Sergecross73 msg me 21:04, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
::::@Sergecross73 Thats not even remotely comparable. These are stage names, MrBeast is not only a company, but also a massive brand as well. TzarN64 (talk) 21:48, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
:::::Yeah, but it's all just him. Regardless, this is an extremely vague proposal. Normally, I'd recommend crating some drafts to illustrate what you're envisioning, but I'm not even really certain it'd be worth your time and effort. I oppose as well. Sergecross73 msg me 23:43, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
:Oppose, there's not enough content to split the article as it currently is. The article is about him and his entrepreneurial activity, if you want you can create a new article called MrBeast (brand). Yeshivish613 (talk) 23:08, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. I'm not opposed in theory if there can be a Mr. Beast brand article, but I don't think what this article is could be cleanly split. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 10:47, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose per above; as it currently is, the article is about the YouTuber himself, not the brand. LoTrWiki (talk) 16:28, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose Jimmy is the main focus of the term "MrBeast". Also the article is about Jimmy himself, not the company. But you could create a article like MrBeast (company). RealStanger43286 (Let's talk!) 02:37, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
:Oppose YouTube is the only source of his notability Servite et contribuere (talk) 18:39, 23 April 2025 (UTC)
:Oppose This does not set any precedence for any other notable content creator nor does it justify any other reason than to have 2 other pages for 1 subject instead of a brand. (User:9mm.trilla) 06:11, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. Donaldson is only notable as MrBeast, and his brand is entirely reliant on him. Cortador (talk) 09:45, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
:Oppose: Jimmy is often called MrBeast, MrBeast mostly refers to Jimmy and has been referring to him since his account creation. Thegoofhere (talk) 04:15, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
:Then just create a seperate article "MrBeast (Brand)" or something like that if you want the brand to have a seperate article from him. LazarEpic (talk) 04:56, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
::Exactly, although Jimmy is often called MrBeast because of his social media platforms, the brands owned by him have a such notability as well. But I don't think that the article's name should be just "MrBeast (Brand)", since MrBeast is NOT a brand after all. Vinizex94🌍 13:00, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- I don't think the article should be split per se, but I do think a lot of the material and content in this article belong in another article e.g. {{tq|In February 2024, Feastables rebranded their chocolates, including a new shape and formula.[100]}} belongs in the Feastables article, not this supposedly biographical article. Philanthropy > #TeamTrees is stale and potentially misleading.
1.) Verb tense should be past tense to describe past events:
1a.) "Every donation goes to the Arbor Day Foundation, which pledges to plant one tree for every dollar donated." --> "Every donation was said to go to the Arbor Day Foundation, which pledged to plant one tree for every dollar donated."
1b.) "As of March 2025, the original goal of 20 million trees has been far surpassed..." --> "As of March 2025, the original goal of 20 million trees had been far surpassed..." --> "
2.) A new final sentence should update the project with results as measured by PBS. "As of April 2025, only 5% of the original 2,000 trees were extant." Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWDEawUSyUY at timestamp 6:52 Qdougj (talk) 01:39, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
What about the Lunchly controversy?
That should be mentioned here! Angrythewikipedian (talk) 23:53, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
:Hi @Angrythewikipedian, it is mentioned under Controversies. It also has its own article, Lunchly Knitsey (talk) 12:28, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
::Thank you. Angrythewikipedian (talk) 11:41, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
“Steven”
There is a small note after Donaldson’s full name that says that before confirmation of his full name, some argued that his middle name should be spelled “Steven.” Why is this at all relevant to what his name is, and why does it warrant inclusion? His middle name is not Steven. Some editors were wrong. Why is there a note cluttering the page that basically says “a small group of people were wrong?” 2600:1000:B10B:DC41:98AC:82A0:B600:9EB8 (talk) 17:51, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
:I agree--Stephen and Steven are pronounced the same way, so I can see why some RSes might've spelt it the wrong way initially. I've removed the footnote. Some1 (talk) 23:32, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
