{{ElectionsTX}}

The 2018 Texas House of Representatives elections took place as part of the biennial United States elections. Texas voters elected state representatives in all 150 of the state house's districts. The winners of this election served in the 86th Texas Legislature. State representatives serve two-year terms in the Texas House. An archived statewide map of Texas' state House districts from the Texas Legislative Council can be found [https://web.archive.org/web/20190303222437/https://tlc.texas.gov/redist/pdf/house/map.pdf here], and individual district maps can be obtained from the U.S. Census [https://www.census.gov/geo/maps-data/maps/sldl/st48_tx.html here].

A primary election on March 6, 2018, determined which candidates appeared on the November 6 general election ballot. Primary election results can be obtained from the Texas Secretary of State's website.{{cite web |url=http://elections.sos.state.tx.us/index.htm | title=Election Results |publisher=Texas Secretary of State |access-date= August 3, 2018}}

Following the 2016 state house elections, Republicans maintained effective control of the House with 95 members. Democrats held 55 seats following the 2016 elections.

In the 2018 election, Democrats flipped 12 seats in the Texas House, leaving Republicans with an 83–67 advantage in the House.{{cite news |last1=Pollock |first1=Cassandra |last2=Anchondo |first2=Carlos |last3=Waller |first3=Allyson |title=Democratic women lead biggest shift in Texas House since 2010 midterms |url=https://www.texastribune.org/2018/11/06/texas-midterm-election-results-texas-house-races/ |access-date=9 November 2018 |publisher=Texas Tribune |date=November 6, 2018}}

This election marks the first time since 2008 that Democrats had won a state house race in Williamson, Hays, or Blanco counties, as well as the first time since 1982 that Democrats had won a state house race in Denton County.{{Cite web|title=Legislative Reference Library {{!}} Legislators and Leaders {{!}} Texas Legislators: Past & Present|url=https://lrl.texas.gov/legeLeaders/members/lrlhome.cfm|access-date=2022-02-24|website=lrl.texas.gov}}

Predictions

Despite a competitive race for U.S. Senate in the state, analysts did not consider control of the Texas House to be in play. Despite this, they acknowledged that Democrats were likely to make gains in the chamber, predicting that they would gain a single-digit number of seats.
