The 2025 Valdostan regional election is scheduled to take place in September 2025 in Aosta Valley, Italy.{{cite news |title= Testolin, in Valle d'Aosta regionali e comunali a settembre 2025 |url=https://www.ansa.it/valledaosta/notizie/2024/12/21/testolin-in-valle-daosta-regionali-e-comunali-a-settembre-2025_11ab4c3b-782d-4af4-9635-2489651b5e74.html |accessdate=16 March 2025 |agency=Agenzia Nazionale Stampa Associata |date=21 December 2024 |language=it-IT}} The election is part of the wider 2025 Italian regional elections.

Electoral law

The Regional Council of Aosta Valley ({{langx|it|Consiglio regionale della Valle d'Aosta}}, {{langx|fr|Conseil de la Vallée}}) is composed by 35 members. The Council is elected for a five-year term. There is only one regional constituency. The President of Aosta Valley is elected by the Council. The electoral law was recently changed by the L.R. 16/2017 and the L.R. 9/2019.{{cite news |title=Nuova legge elettorale regionale in vigore dal 20 giugno |url=https://www.ansa.it/valledaosta/notizie/2019/06/04/nuova-l.-elettorale-in-vigore-20-giugno_8cd14441-6b88-4981-a900-c0f823bf0527.html |accessdate=22 July 2020 |agency=ANSA |date=4 June 2019 |language=Italian}}

The election of the Regional Council is based on a direct choice for the candidate and it is possible to express only one preference for the list. If a single party list or a coalition of party lists gets more than 42% of valid votes cast, it is assigned a majority bonus of 21 seats. If no one reach this threshold, the seats are determined proportionally. For the proportional allocation there are two thresholds: given the largest remainder method by dividing the valid votes cast for all lists and the seats to be assigned, if a party list doesn't reach the minimum quota required, the party list is excluded to the allocation of the seats. However, if a party list gets only one seat during the first allocation of seats, it is excluded and its seat is reallocated.{{cite web |title=Elezioni |url=http://www.consiglio.vda.it/app/elezioni |website=Consiglio Regionale della Valle d'Aosta |accessdate=22 July 2020 |language=Italian}} {{Clarify|date=February 2022|reason=This is basically just a single threshold.}}

Background

In the 2020 regional election, the Valdostan Union (UV) was reduced to 15.8%, its second worst result ever, while the LNVdA came a stronger first. However, after the election, UV leader Erik Lavévaz formed a government composed of the PD, Civic Network (RC), the Valdostan Alliance (AV), Edelweiss (SA) and Mouv'.{{Cite web|url=https://www.aostaoggi.it/politica/18869-regione-c-e-l-accordo-ecco-la-nuova-giunta-lavevaz.html|title = Regione, c'è l'accordo.
