Abag Banner has a monsoon-influenced, continental semi-arid climate (Köppen BSk), with very cold and dry winters, very warm, somewhat humid summers, and strong winds, especially in spring. The monthly 24-hour average temperature ranges from {{convert|−20.9|°C|1}} in January to {{convert|21.3|°C|1}} in July, with the annual mean at {{convert|1.93|°C|1}}. The annual precipitation is {{convert|238|mm|in|abbr=on}}, with more than half of it falling in July and August alone.
