The B-segment Modular Architecture (BMA) is a global compact unibody automobile platform developed by Geely Auto. The architecture can be used to develop cars with a wheelbase between {{cvt|2550-2700|mm|in|1}} and with wheel track wheels ranging from {{cvt|1500-1600|mm|in|1}}.{{Cite web|date=2018-07-27|title=Geely BMA modular platform – more details released - paultan.org|url=https://paultan.org/2018/07/27/geely-bma-modular-platform-more-details-released/|access-date=2021-02-24|website=Paul Tan's Automotive News|language=en-US|first=Jonathan|last=Lee}} Its name derived from the larger Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. While the CMA platform was jointly developed by Geely and Volvo, the BMA platform is independently developed by Geely.{{Cite web|title=Modular Architecture|url=http://global.geely.com/research-development/modular-architecture/|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20200925223802/http://global.geely.com/research-development/modular-architecture/|url-status=dead|archive-date=September 25, 2020|access-date=2021-02-24|website=Geely Global|language=zh-CN}}
The use of BMA allows for higher economies of scale, as all vehicles based on BMA will have a high rate of commonality with shared parts and components reaching 70 percent, reducing costs and time needed for component testing. With the use of BMA, vehicle development time may be shortened from over 36 months on average to just 18 to 24 months.{{Cite web|date=2018-07-14|title=GEELY Discloses New Global Automobile Architecture BMA|url=https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20180713005521/en/GEELY-Discloses-New-Global-Automobile-Architecture-BMA|access-date=2021-02-24|website=businesswire.com|language=en}}{{Cite web|title=Geely officially discloses new global B-segment automobile modular architecture: BMA; new BMA-based SUV to launch this year|url=https://www.greencarcongress.com/2018/07/20180715-bma.html|access-date=2021-02-24|website=Green Car Congress|date=15 July 2018}}
The platform is claimed to be developed from 70 percent high-strength steel and 20 percent hot-formed steel, and was designed to exceed Europe standards of 5-star safety norms. The BMA is also compatible with L2 autonomous drive and L3 autonomous drive in the future.{{Cite web|title=Geely announces all-new BMA platform, first SUV BMA-based model to be launched in H2 2018|url=http://autonews.gasgoo.com/Detail2020.aspx?ArticleId=70014954|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20221123211424/https://autonews.gasgoo.com/Detail2020.aspx?ArticleId=70014954|url-status=dead|archive-date=November 23, 2022|access-date=2021-02-24|website=Gasgoo}}
