Calcethorpe is recorded in the 1086 Domesday Book as having two households and six acres of meadow.{{cite web|title=Calcethorpe|url=http://www.domesdaymap.co.uk/place/TF2488/calcethorpe/|work=Domesdaymap.co.uk|publisher=Anna Powell-Smith/University of Hull|accessdate=26 June 2011|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120313084807/http://www.domesdaymap.co.uk/place/TF2488/calcethorpe/|archive-date=13 March 2012|url-status=dead}}

The church was dedicated to Saint Faith but had fallen into ruin and disappeared by about 1450, around the same time as the rest of the village was abandoned. The earthworks near Manor Farm are known locally as 'Priests Close' and the probable site of the church.{{cite web|title=St Faith's church, Calcethorpe|url=http://www.lincstothepast.com/St-Faith-s-church--Calcethorpe/227048.record?pt=S|work=Lincs to the Past|accessdate=26 June 2011}}{{PastScape|mname=Calcethorpe|mnumber=353068|accessdate=26 June 2011}}{{NHLE|num=1005012|desc=Deserted village (site of) N of Calcethorpe Manor Farm|accessdate=5 July 2017}}
