Critical reception
The album was not only popular and well received by fans, it was the group's most critically acclaimed album to date. It won the Daesang (Grand Prize) for the Album of the Year at the Golden Disc Awards, becoming only the second idol group to win one of the industry's most prestigious awards.{{cite news|title=[30th 골든★열전⑧] 미워할 수 없는 국민아이돌..god 편|url=http://news.joins.com/article/19390238|work=JoongAng Ilbo|date=January 11, 2016}}
Various reviews by major newspapers noted that the album displayed a more introspective and mature side of the group, with the album art likewise reflecting a more serious theme compared to that of the third album.{{cite news|title=Well, g.o.d Bless Us All: A Boy Band Returns|url=http://mengnews.joins.com/view.aspx?aId=1897512|work=Korea JoongAng Daily|date=November 25, 2001|last=Choe|first=Jae-hee|access-date=November 2, 2017|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20170910172705/http://mengnews.joins.com/view.aspx?aId=1897512|archive-date=September 10, 2017|url-status=dead}}{{cite news|title=화려함 대신 그들의 길 찾은 god|url=http://legacy.www.hani.co.kr/section-014009000/2001/11/014009000200111211501008.html|work=The Hankyoreh|date=November 21, 2001|language=Korean}}{{cite news|title=[음악]그룹 god 4집 '길' 출시…"우리의 '길'은 계속된다"|url=http://news.donga.com/3/all/20011118/7760295/1|work=The Dong-a Ilbo|date=November 18, 2001|language=Korean}} The Korea JoongAng Daily concluded that "with R&B, hip-hop and ballads all blended together, the new release ought to satisfy the band's many fans."
