On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, it has an approval rating of 29% based on 21 reviews, with the consensus, "Cooking with Paris has the potential to delight, but by stranding Hilton's persona so deep in her past it feels like a missed opportunity for her to begin something new."{{cite web |url=https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/cooking_with_paris/s01 |title=Cooking With Paris: Season 1 (2021) |website=Rotten Tomatoes |access-date=June 14, 2022}} Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 34 out of 100 based on 10 critics, indicating "generally unfavorable reviews".{{cite web|url=https://www.metacritic.com/tv/cooking-with-paris-2021/season-1|title=Cooking With Paris: Season 1|website=Metacritic|access-date=June 14, 2022}} The series ranked at number one (tied with Alter Ego) on Metacritic's Worst TV Shows of 2021 list.{{cite web|url=https://www.metacritic.com/pictures/worst-television-shows-of-2021/9|title=The Worst New TV Shows of 2021|website=Metacritic|access-date=December 24, 2021}}

Jordan Julian of The Daily Beast stated that the show is "an over-produced miss. [...] She seems to be trying to channel her clueless, perpetually bored Simple Life persona, but now that we know that that was just a character, it feels forced."{{Cite web |url=https://www.thedailybeast.com/paris-hilton-is-acting-like-a-ditz-again-and-its-not-hot |title=Paris Hilton Is Acting Like a Ditz Again and It's Not Hot |last=Julian|first=Jordan |date=August 4, 2021 |website=The Daily Beast |access-date=August 8, 2021}} Writing for Variety, Daniel D'Addario said: "The problem, for Hilton, is that Cooking With Paris is a disaster — an utterly unappealing sit that many viewers will tune out before the first episode has ended."{{Cite web |url=https://variety.com/2021/tv/reviews/paris-hilton-netflix-cooking-with-paris-1235027487/ |title='Cooking With Paris' Shows Us a Familiar, Tiresome Hilton Persona: TV Review |last=D'Addario|first=Daniel |date=August 2, 2021 |website=Variety |access-date=August 8, 2021}} Lucy Mangan of The Guardian felt that it "all gets odder as it goes on. It's not (just) that Hilton has only four phrases at her disposal ('So good', 'So bomb', 'Insane', 'So cute'), but that she is such a deadening presence."{{Cite web |url=https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2021/aug/04/cooking-with-paris-review-hilton-in-the-kitchen-prepare-to-have-your-mind-blown |title=Cooking With Paris review – Hilton in the kitchen?
