Genhe has a monsoon-influenced subarctic climate (Köppen Dwc), making it one of the coldest locations nationally, with an annual mean temperature of {{convert|−3.56|°C|1}}. Winters are long, severely cold, and very dry in terms of total precipitation, while summers are short and warm; the normal monthly mean temperature ranges from {{convert|−28.1|°C|1}} in January to {{convert|17.6|°C|1}} in July. Over two-thirds of the annual precipitation of {{convert|438|mm|in|abbr=on}} is distributed from June through August.
