Critical reception

Eve Barlow of Billboard stated, "He was made to be the frontman. [...] His Jagger-meets-David Cassidy persona shines out on the swaggering "Only Angel" and "Woman".{{cite magazine|url=https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop/7973553/harry-styles-los-angeles-greek-concert-review-set-list|title=Harry Styles Is a True Rockstar at L.A. Sheffield continued that Styles is "the ultimate fusion of Mick Jagger’s yin and Paul McCartney’s yang [...] to the point where encountering them at peak strength in the same star can get bewildering".{{cite magazine|url=https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-live-reviews/harry-styles-brings-rock-star-swagger-pop-joy-to-madison-square-garden-665907/|title=Harry Styles Brings Rock-Star Swagger, Pop Joy to Madison Square Garden|last=Sheffield|first=Rob|date=22 June 2018|magazine=Rolling Stone|access-date=23 June 2018|archive-date=26 July 2018|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180726022949/https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-live-reviews/harry-styles-brings-rock-star-swagger-pop-joy-to-madison-square-garden-665907/|url-status=live}} Writing for Los Angeles Times, August Brown lauded the show as "one of the best arena rock shows of the last few years", taking particular note of the stage production which was "classy and minimal, relying on the strength of the songs and Styles’ charm as a live performer."{{cite web|last=Brown|first=August|title=Ending a year-long classic arena tour, Harry Styles proves he is the future of rock 'n' roll|url=https://www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/la-et-ms-harry-styles-kacey-musgraves-20180713-story.html|work=Los Angeles Times|date=15 July 2018|access-date=15 July 2018|archive-date=17 July 2018|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180717155111/http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/la-et-ms-harry-styles-kacey-musgraves-20180713-story.html|url-status=live}} Sabrina Barr of The Independent praised Styles for his "undeniably impressive vocal range", adding, "Most performers can only dream of having the charisma and star quality that Harry Styles naturally exudes."{{cite web |last1=Barr |first1=Sabrina |title=Harry Styles review, O2 Arena in London: Former One Direction star impresses crowds with funk and flair |url=https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/reviews/harry-styles-review-o2-london-arena-tour-tickets-setlist-world-dates-2018-a8300911.html |work=The Independent |access-date=7 August 2018 |date=12 April 2018 |archive-date=17 July 2019 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190717021655/https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/reviews/harry-styles-review-o2-london-arena-tour-tickets-setlist-world-dates-2018-a8300911.html |url-status=live }}

The Irish Times{{'}}s Louise Bruton wrote that Styles "proves his superstar status easily but he maintains a sincere level of modesty throughout the entire show, making him more personable than a lot of his pop star peers", and praised his vocals on slower songs, calling him "very much in a league of his own".{{cite news|url=https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/music/harry-styles-review-the-pop-star-with-the-rock-licks-is-in-a-league-of-his-own-1.3463937|title=Harry Styles review: The pop star with the rock licks is in a league of his own|last=Bruton|first=Louise|date=16 April 2018|newspaper=The Irish Times|access-date=17 April 2018|archive-date=25 November 2020|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20201125023933/https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/music/harry-styles-review-the-pop-star-with-the-rock-licks-is-in-a-league-of-his-own-1.3463937|url-status=live}} Matt Miller of Esquire complimented Styles' sensitivity in regards to inclusivity ("aggressively inclusive" according to Rolling Stone) after seeing "teens carrying rainbow hats, shirts, and even one pride flag attached to a Black Lives Matter sign in the front row", saying "[Styles reminds] us that youths are here, they're aware, and they actually care."{{cite news |url=https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/music/a22058907/harry-styles-concert-review-lgbtq/ |title=A Harry Styles Concert Gave Me Faith in the Youths |last=Miller |first=Matt |work=Esquire |date=6 July 2018 |access-date=6 July 2018 |archive-date=17 July 2018 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180717204554/https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/music/a22058907/harry-styles-concert-review-lgbtq/ |url-status=live }}
