Danilewitz was performing as Jonti by November 2012. His debut album, Twirligig, had appeared a year earlier in October 2011.{{cite web |last=Jeffries |first=David |date=2012 |title=Twirligig Review |url=https://www.allmusic.com/album/twirligig-mw0002216410 |access-date=30 November 2022 |publisher=AllMusic}} AllMusic's David Jeffries rated it four-out-of-five stars, who explained "this genre-borrowing hangs together effortlessly with Jonti's unique voice as its anchor, so let your laptop-hovering friends worry about the complex constructions while you enjoy Twirligig{{'}}s simple pleasures".

In 2014, Jonti performed a cover of the Avalanches debut album, Since I Left You, at Vivid LIVE and the Melbourne International Arts Festival.{{Cite web |last=Sadler |first=Denham |date=2014-10-12 |title=Jonti & His 17 Piece Band Paid Tribute To The Avalanches & We Were There |url=https://tonedeaf.thebrag.com/jonti-17-piece-band-paid-tribute-avalanches/ |access-date=2022-11-30 |website=Tone Deaf}}{{Cite web |last=Palathingal |first=George |date=2014-05-25 |title=Since the Avalanches left us, Jonti and the Astral Kids step up |url=https://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/music/since-the-avalanches-left-us-jonti-and-the-astral-kids-step-up-20140526-zrni1.html |access-date=2022-11-30 |website=The Sydney Morning Herald |language=en}}{{Cite web |last=McClintock |first=Alex |date=2014-05-25 |title=Since I Left You review – a joyful, live recreation of a classic record |url=http://www.theguardian.com/music/australia-culture-blog/2014/may/25/since-i-left-you-review-a-joyful-live-recreation-of-a-classic-record |access-date=2022-11-30 |website=The Guardian}} In 2016, he appeared on their album Wildflowers later becoming their touring guitarist.

His second album, Tokorats, was released in 2017.{{cite web |last=Simpson |first=Paul |date=2017 |title=Tokorats Review |url=https://www.allmusic.com/album/tokorats-mw0003115103 |access-date=30 November 2022 |publisher=AllMusic}}{{Cite web |date=6 November 2017 |title=Jonti: Tokorats |url=https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/jonti-tokorats/ |access-date=2022-11-30 |website=Pitchfork}}{{Cite web |last=Carr |first=Paul |date=2017-12-08 |title=Jonti: Tokorats |url=https://www.popmatters.com/jonti-tokorats-2515841017.html |access-date=2022-11-30 |website=PopMatters}} Jeffries' colleague David Simpson gave it three-and-a-half because "not all of his juxtapositions or segues seem to make sense, and the album seems a bit overstuffed, but Jonti's ambition and creativity are undeniably admirable, and the entire album is a delightfully strange trip".
