Critical reaction
Bonet's music has been described as psychedelic soul{{cite news |year=2018 |title="Delphine" by Kadhja Bonet |url=https://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/kadhja-bonet-delphine/ |work=Pitchfork |access-date=June 2, 2018}} while, for other critics, it "amalgamates folk, jazz and soul,"{{cite web|url=http://xpn.org/world-cafe/world-cafe-next/item/4887-world-cafe-next-kadhja-bonet|date= March 4, 2018|title=World Cafe Next: Kadhja Bonet|publisher=World Cafe Next|access-date=June 3, 2018}} or evokes "Billie Holiday, whisky, and 1940s Disney" in a "genre-defying" way.
Clash magazine wrote that her second album "places Kadhja Bonet in a league of her own." The single "Delphine" from the album was described as "spellbinding"{{cite web|last=Hakimian |first=Rob |url=https://www.thefourohfive.com/music/article/kadhja-bonet-shows-her-class-on-the-spellbinding-delphine-152|date= April 25, 2018|title=Kadhja Bonet shows her class on the spellbinding 'Delphine'|publisher=TheFourOhFive|access-date=June 3, 2018}} and the album itself as "proof of her idiosyncratic genius."{{cite web|last=Moon |first=Tom |url=https://www.npr.org/2018/05/31/614967412/first-listen-kadhja-bonet-childqueen|date= May 31, 2018|title=First Listen: Kadhja Bonet, Childqueen|publisher=NPR|access-date=June 3, 2018}}
