Biography
Shlosberg is of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. He joined Yabloko in 1994, becoming head of the Pskov branch of the party in 1996. From 2011 to 2015 he was a member of the Pskov Oblast Assembly of Deputies.
He has gained fame in August 2014 when he made a publication for the newspaper «Pskovskaya guberniya», where he spread information about the suspicious deaths of troops of 76th Guards Air Assault Division, Leonid Kichatkin and Alexander Osipov.[http://www.bbc.com/russian/rolling_news/2014/08/140829_rn_shlosberg_pskov_beaten.shtml BBC Русская служба] Shlosberg claimed they died fighting in the Donbass.
In 2015, Shlosberg was deprived of authority by a court and by vote of fellow deputies. Shlosberg claims this was politically motivated.[https://meduza.io/news/2015/09/24/lva-shlosberga-isklyuchili-iz-pskovskogo-parlamenta Льва Шлосберга исключили из псковского парламента]{{Cite web|url=http://www.worldaffairsjournal.org/blog/vladimir-kara-murza/outspoken-russian-lawmaker-expelled-truth|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20151002032808/http://www.worldaffairsjournal.org/blog/vladimir-kara-murza/outspoken-russian-lawmaker-expelled-truth|url-status=usurped|archive-date=October 2, 2015|title=Outspoken Russian Lawmaker Expelled for Truth|access-date=2016-09-25}} That year, he ran for the post of chairman of the democratic party Yabloko. He was defeated by Emilia Slabunova in the second round.[http://www.yabloko.ru/news/2015/12/20 Yabloko.ru]
On 4 July 2016 he announced he was running for Parliament, in that year's State Duma Election, but lost the election in his constituency, coming in fifth with around 6% of the vote.{{Cite web|url=http://www.yabloko.ru/list|title=Региональные группы партии "Яблоко" на выборах в Государственную Думу|website=yabloko.ru|access-date=2016-07-30}}{{Cite web|title=Избирательная комиссия Псковской области|url=http://www.pskov.izbirkom.ru/|access-date=2021-07-28|website=pskov.izbirkom.ru|archive-date=27 October 2003|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20031027194310/http://www.pskov.izbirkom.ru/|url-status=dead}} Nonetheless, that same election, Yabloko won one seat in the Pskov Oblast Assembly of Deputies, and Shlosberg returned to the legislature.{{Cite web|url=http://www.rosbalt.ru/russia/2016/09/19/1551345.html|title=Шлосберга избрали в Псковское областное собрание|access-date=2016-09-25}}{{Cite web|url=http://www.worldaffairsjournal.org/blog/vladimir-kara-murza/russia%E2%80%99s-2016-election-despair-apathy%E2%80%94and-hope|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160922124716/http://www.worldaffairsjournal.org/blog/vladimir-kara-murza/russia%E2%80%99s-2016-election-despair-apathy%E2%80%94and-hope|url-status=usurped|archive-date=September 22, 2016|title=Russia's 2016 Election: Despair, Apathy—and Hope?|last=Kara-Murza|first=Vladimir|date=21 September 2016|website=World Affairs|publisher=|access-date=}}
In 2021, Shlosberg decided to run in the 2021 State Duma Elections, again as a candidate of Yabloko. However this time he is running in the Khovrino constituency in Moscow, instead of his home district of Pskov.[http://xn--80aalatjw8b3e/%20«Яблока»%20на%20выборах%20в%20Госдуму%20VIII%20созыва.%20Одномандатные%20округа Кандидаты «Яблока» на выборах в Госдуму VIII созыва. He also ran in the simultaneous Pskov Oblast Assembly elections. On 3 August 2021 his registration as a candidate was declined, due to alleged links with banned Anti-Corruption Foundation. However, on the next day he was registered, due to the fact that the court decision to ban Anti-Corruption Foundation was not yet final.
Regarding State Duma elections, however, on 9 August 2021 Moscow city court annulled his registration as a candidate, also due to alleged links with Anti-Corruption Foundation. Then he was also excluded from the federal Yabloko party list.[https://www.currenttime.tv/a/tsik-isklyuchil-lva-shlosberga-yabloko-vybory-gosduma/31429595.html ЦИК исключил Льва Шлосберга из списка "Яблока" на выборы в Госдуму]
In April 2022, following the increased repression after the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian police filed charges against him and his wife for having "discredited" the Russian military.{{cite web |date=15 April 2022|title=Opposition Politician Accused of 'Discrediting' Russian Military |url=https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2022/04/15/shlosberg-a77362|author-last=|author-first=|access-date=15 April 2022 |work=The Moscow Times}}
In January 2025, Schlosberg was charged under the Russian foreign agent law and prohibited from leaving Pskov Oblast.{{Cite web|url=https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2025/01/17/russia-charges-opposition-politician-shlosberg-with-violating-foreign-agent-law-a87650|title=Russia Charges Opposition Politician Shlosberg With Violating ‘Foreign Agent’ Law|date=17 January 2025|access-date=2025-03-28|work=The Moscow Times}} As of March 2025 Schlosberg has been indicted and trial is upcoming.{{Cite web|url=https://www.rightsinrussia.org/shlosberg-58/|title=The legal void is filled with paper|last=Shlosberg|first=Lev|date=14 March 2025|access-date=2025-03-28}}
